Cameroon’s Head of State Paul Biya has congratulated compatriot Francis Ngannou for his brilliant performance over the weekend in Las Vegas, America, becoming the very first African to win the Ultimate Fighting Championship, UFC heavyweight title in the Mixed Martial Arts cathegory.
The message of congratulations is contained in a letter under-covered by the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Prof Narcisse Mouelle Kombi.
In the letter, President Biya says he learnt with satisfaction the brilliant performance of Francis Ngannou in an UFC confrontation last Saturday March 27 in America.
He adds that with this performance, the native of Batie in the West region has joined the circle of illustrious Cameroonian athletes who make the Green Red Yellow proud.
The 34-year old shattered his American opponent, Stipe Miocic 52 seconds into the second round of a confrontation last Saturday March 27 to become the world heavyweight champion.
