Cameroon: Protests erupt in Buea after killing of school girl

The town of Buea in the South West Region is at a standstill as the population has embarked on a protest following the killing of a school girl in Buea early on Thursday morning.

The pupil was shot and killed in a vehicle by a gendarme officer on duty around the check point in Molyko, Buea, eyewitnesses said.

The officer is said to have opened fire on the vehicle which was carrying the child to school as the bullet penetrated from the back of the vehicle killing the young girl.

The angry population descended on the scene and administered mob justice on the gendarme officer before marching with the corpse of the young girl to through the streets of Buea to the office of the Governor who was reportedly not on seat.
