Cameroon: retired police officer killed in Buea

A retired police officer was on Monday November 12 killed in the Mile 14 neighbourhood, Buea sub division in the South West region by unidentified gunmen men, sources have confirmed.

The retired police officer popularly called ‘commandant’ was ambushed around Mile 14 Dibanda by the gunmen who suspect him of being a spy for the milatary in the area, sources said.

The officer who lives in Mutengene has been supplying water to the Police traning centre in the area and this activity had attracted the wrath of armed men in the area who have always targeted him.

The Mutengene-Mile 14 stretch of the road leading to Buea has been a battle ground for armed separatist fighters and soldiers in recent weeks leading to casualties on both sides, local sources in Mutengene say. This has force many residents to relocate to Douala for safety.
