Cameroon: Secretary of State for Public Health Alim Hayatou passes away

The death has been announced of Alim Garga Hayatou, Lamido of Garoua and Secretary of State at the Ministry of Public Health in Charge of epidemics and pandemics.

He died this Monday April 5 at the age of 75 after suffering from illness.

Alim Hayatou served as Secretary of State at the Ministry of Public Health for more than 20 years.

The member of Government also served as the Lamido of Garoua in the North region since the year 2000.

Alim Hayatou was mostly seen these past months in his moves in the fight against the deadly Coronavirus pandemic.

He was also President of the Council of Traditional Chiefs of Cameroon.
