The Cameroon National Olympic and Sports Committee has slammed an eight-year suspension on the president of the Karate Federation, Fecakarate Emmanuel Wakam over accusations of sexual harassment.
The sanction was passed out Wednesday October 7 at the end of an extra-ordinary session of the Cameroon National Olympic and Sports Committee.
According to this sanction, Emmanuel Wakam is suspended from all sports activities for the next eight years for violation of ethic.
This follows accusations of sexual harassment which prompted the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Prof Narcisse Mouelle Kombi to order an enquiry into the alleged case.
The investigations led to the auditioning of close to one hundred persons at the federation, among whom where the accusers, the accused and the members of the ‘Cercle des ceintures noires’.
Apart from the President, Emmanuel Wakam who had been temporarily suspended from his duties by Minister Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, reports have it that four other officials of the federation incriminated in the scandal have been slammed the same suspension.
They include ; Jean Bobda, deputy technical national director N°2, Jean Francis Esse, main coach of the national junior karate team, Germain Ambani, assistant coach of the national junior karate team and Christian Ndougsa, athlete.
