Cameroon-State Revenues: Digital Technology Helps in Collecting 800 Billion F in 2021

To improve the collection system, Louis Paul Motaze, Minister of Finance signed in April 2022 a memorandum of understanding with the Guichet unique des opérations du commerce extérieur Guce.

Louis Paul Motaze, presided over the signing ceremony between the State, credit institutions and the Guichet unique des opérations du commerce extérieur Guce, of the memorandum of understanding relating to the payment of customs duties, taxes and various fees on the Guce electronic platform called e-Guce. These digital payments have been in place for several years.

More than a simple concept, e-governance has become an essential approach to address the issues of performance and competitiveness of administrations, organisations and businesses,” said Isidore Biyiha, CEO of Guce.

To give you an idea of the level of payment operations carried out, with security and traceability requirements, on behalf of the State alone, we have progressively gone from more than 123 billion in 2012 to around 800 billion in 2021 collected via the e-Guce platform.

The purpose of this agreement is to set out the rights and obligations of the parties in the context of payment via digital channels and operations at bank counters concerning the aforementioned duties and taxes.
