Cameroon: Suspected Amba fighters kill soldier in Bamenda

Suspected Ambazonia fighters are said to have ambushed and killed a soldier in Atiela, a village in Bamenda III Subdivision, Mezam Division of the North West region of Cameroon, sources have said.

The soldier identified as Ayo Akam was reportedly ambushed by Ambazonia fighters late Wednesday January 15, 2020 after he and the girl friend had left a drinking spot on their way to his duty post at Government Bilingual High School Atiela.

According to sources, the incident happened around Nebung Catholic Church. Ayo Akam was reportedly shot dead, gun taken away and his girlfriend injured.

She was later on rushed to the hospital where she for medical attention.

The killing of soldiers has become rampant in villages of the restive South West and North West regions of Cameroon as the Anglophone crisis keeps on escalating.
