Three people including a six-month old baby are reported to have perished and six others injured after a building collapsed in Malatam, a neighbourhood in the town of Foumban, West region of Cameroon over the weekend, reports have confirmed.
According to sources, the incident happened Saturday March 28, 2020 in the evening.
Early the next morning, the Mayor of the City of Foumban, Patricia Tomaina Ndam Njoya went to the site to see the damage caused by herself.
Unofficial reports say the building was standing on a risk zone, exposed to landslides and other natural phenomena.
Many buildings have collapsed in Cameroon’s main cities either because of the nature of the site on which the buildings were constructed, the material used in constructing the buildings or the old nature of the buildings.
