Cameroon will unveil Mola, the mascot chosen for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON the country will be hosting come January 2022 during a ceremony that will take place around the 15 of May.
The name of the mascot retained for the football jamboree was unveiled this Wednesday May 5 by mascot jury members of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations during a ceremony chaired by the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Prof Narcisse Mouelle Kombi.
They were more than 30 to compete for this competition, out of which three were retained and out of the three, Mola, a term used by Cameroonians to address one another as brothers emerged first with a note of 12.9 on 20.
The jury members had ten days to give their final statistics and the unveiling ceremony is slated for May 15 at the Yaounde Multi-Purpose Sports Complex.
Likewise, three out of the 100 AFCON anthem songs filed in by Cameroonians all over the ten regions have been chosen based on the melody, the rhythm, the relationship between the song and sports, the text and the originality.
According to reports, the three songs stood out with a note of 73.59, 73.06 and 71.71 on 100 respectively as first, second and third.
The best anthem will equally be unveiled during the ceremony at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex on May 15.
