Cameroon: Two civilians, one soldier killed in fresh Boko Haram attack in F/N

At least nine people have been killed including two civilians, one soldier and six Boko Haram elements in an attack on the locality of Dabanga, Logone and Chari Division of the Far North region of Cameroon Saturday March 27.

 

According to a release by the Ministry of Defence, hundreds of Boko Haram armed elements stormed the locality of Dabanga on the night of Saturday to Sunday March 28 on board light tactical vehicles and motorcycles.

Security elements present in the area launched a counter attack that led to a fierce combat between both that lasted for several hours.

In the course of the battle, two civilians and one soldier were killed, two other soldiers were injured, one of whom is said to have been evacuated to the Hopital de la Renaissance in Ndjamena, Chad for emergency neurosurgical treatment.

One armoured vehicle belonging to security forces was partially damaged, plus ten shops and one cargo truck burnt down.

On the side of the terrorists, several among them were neutralized, six tactical vehicles immobilized and some of their weapons and accessories recovered.

Attacks from Boko Haram elements have been recurrent in this part of Cameroon.

The Ministry of Defence have reassured populations in the area on the effective presence of troops to contain such attacks.
