Cameroon – Yaounde city council : Budget of 37.2 billion CFA francs Adopted for 2023

This budgetary envelope, which is 3.6% higher than that of 2022, was voted and unanimously adopted by the councilors of this municipality at the end of the Community Council held on 14 December 2022 under the leadership of the Divisional Officer of Mfoundi, Emmanuel Mariel Djikdent.

 

For the year 2023, the budget of the Yaounde city council is balanced in revenue and expenditure at the sum of 37.2 billion CFA francs against 35.9 billion CFA francs in 2022. This budget was voted on December 14 by the councillors of this municipality at the end of the work devoted to the examination, amendment and vote of the budgetary envelope of the year 2023. Indeed, the said budget has increased by 1.3 billion CFA francs in absolute value and 3.6% in relative value.

According to Luc Messi Atangana, Mayor of the City of Yaounde, the budgetary envelope that has just been approved will “allow the continuation of the vast modernization project of the capital city” identified in various fields.
Initially, the yaounde city council will carry out maintenance work on the roads with the purchase of the necessary equipment; vehicles and machinery; the water and electricity network; other technical services; communal buildings, computers and office furniture.

On another level, the development works are part of the roadmap of the Marie de Yaounde with the development of an archive room, gardens, public squares and green spaces; the development of the section of the road at Ebol Ndjong in Yaounde 4 and roads and water and electricity networks.

With regard to the construction component, the priorities for 2023 are, among others the construction of communal buildings housing services; the extension works of the town hall, notably the ongoing construction of the annex building number 2, the construction of communal buildings for commercial use; the completion of the Etoudi market; the construction of a modern market in Ebom (Nsimeyong); the construction of the Afanoyoa road and the construction of the security fence at the Ngousso Ngoulmekong municipal nursery; the construction of other communal buildings; the construction and supervision of a dalot at Ekounou-Cfta.

Besides the construction, other spaces will be rehabilitated such as the infirmaries and markets of Yaounde, the public toilets, the Vita course or the dalot on the stream.
