Cameroon: Youth council joins back to school crusade in Bamenda

Members of the Cameroon National Youth Council,CNYC, have embarked on back to school campaign in Bamenda, chief town of the North West region in Cameroon.

The back to school campaign, the youth council members say, is aimed at talking parents out of school boycott plans this 2017/2018 academic year.

Jean Marc Afesi Mbafor, President of the council said they are looking for 680 youth volunteer ambassadors in the 34 sub divisions in the region, who will appeal to parents to send children to school.

The volunteers, going by the President, are people selected from each community who know every one within the community. He equally urged the government to boost their campaign by creating make shifts promotional sale points where people can easily buy school material. “Many persons are scared to go to the market to sell or buy books” he said.
