Cameroon:disgruntled artists strike infront of CRTV over unpaid royalties

A group of disgruntled artists on Wednesday October 17 stormed the premises of the Cameroon Radio Television in Yaoundé to request their unpaid royalties.

The artists who stormed the Mballa II headquarters of the CRTV are demanding about one billion FCFA from the broadcaster representing broadcast rights of their works.

The artists who came from the ten regions of the country have called on the Head of State, Paul Biya to intervene and enable their justice is done.

However, the Minister of Culture Narcisse Mouelle Kombi on September 4 had ordered the Cmeroon Radio and Television to pay royalties to SONACAM which is the body recognised by the government.

Thus most of the musicians who staged the protest infront of the CRTV today are said to be those who refused to pay allegiance to SONACAM which has been recognised by the state.
