Frontline health workers involved in the fight against the COVID-19 have raised their voices to call on the population to respect barrier measures in the face of the recent surge in cases.

They made the call on Friday, March 26 during a press conference in Yaounde that brought together some health professional orders and unions

The press conference which held at the conference hall of the Cameroon Medical Council, provided a platform for the medical professionals to raise their voices loud and call on the population to respect the barrier measures

“We want the population to be conscious of the fact that they have to continue wearing their face masks, wash their hands and avoid public gatherings as this will help reduce infections and the rapid spread of the virus,” Dr Jules Ndjebet, President of the National Trade Union of Private Medical Doctors said.

He called on the population to consult health officials whenever they want to receive treatment especially traditional medicine as well as urged health professionals to take the COVID-19 vaccines to keep them safe.

During the press conference, the health professionals also stressed on the need for government to enforce discipline among citizens to ensure barrier measures are respected.
