Cameroon:kidnapped Bafut students freed

Students who were kidnapped  on Monday in the locality of Bafut in the North West region of Cameroon have been freed, family sources have confirmed.

The students spent three days in captivity after they were taken away to an unknown destination by armed men on Monday September 3, the day school resumed over the national territory.

The students were released under unknown circumstances and it remains unclear if their families paid ransoms for their release after a family member of one of the abducted students revealed the kidnappers had demanded one million francs CFA.

In a similar development, the Principal of the PSST Bafut who was kidnapped on the same day with the students is in a stable condition despite sustaining life-threatening injuries, authorities have said.
