Canon of Yaounde has finally gained promotion to the Elite I football competition after spending one year in the lower last football season.
However, their promotion is not thanks to their performance on the pitch but from a stroke of the pen of the Cameroon Professional Football League, LFPC.
In a communiqué signed by the LFPC President Gen. Pierre Semengue on Monday October 15, the Elite I Football season will be played with twenty clubs as opposed to 17 last season.
“The top five clubs in the MTN Elite two football season will be promoted to the Elite I for the new season,”Pierre Semengue said in the communiqué.
Thus Avion of Nkam, PWD of Bamenda Tonnerre of Yaounde who gained automatic promotion to the top flight at the end of the Elite II season will be joined by Canon of Yaounde ane Lion Blessé of Fotouni.
At the foot of the Elite I , Yafoot, Aigle of the Menoua and Bamboutos of Mbouda will stay in the top flight. No club will equally be relegated from the Elite II while five clubs will be promoted from the interpools to fill the gap in the Elite I.
The LFPC has also revealed the Elite I football season will start on November 4 while the Elite II will kick off six days later.
