Cameroon:Manyu traditionalists resort to ‘juju’ to defeat Ambazonia fighters

Some traditionalists in Manyu Division, South West Region of Cameroon have performed some rites to protect the area from separatist activities.

The traditional rites performed at the Mamfe ceremonial ground with the performers promising doom to any person who dares supports the activities of armed separatist fighters in the Division.

Performing the rights, the traditionalists said they hope for a return of peace and tranquility in the Division.

“Anyone who supports Ambazonia fighters or gives them information to come and carry out atrocities, this juju will enter that person and kill them,” the former Mayor of Mamfe, John Takunchung Ayuk said.

Before coming to Mamfe, the rites were equally performed in other parts of the Division, notably Akwaya, Upper Bayang and Eyumojock.

The traditionalists did not only end at cleansing the land but called on all those who are still in the bushes to drop their weapons, come out of the bushes, be cleansed and reintegrated into the society.

The cleansing rites took place two days before the official burial ceremony of the late Mayor of Mamfe,  Ashu Ojong Priestly who was killed recently by armed separatist fighters.

His death had led to youth in the locality to go on a protest march calling for an end to separatists’ activities in the town and Division.
