AL Hilal FC lifted the trophy, and won 700,000 FCFA at the finals on Sunday September 4, in Misaje of the North West region.
Besides the winner of the football tournament, other athletes and teams received over 70 prizes at the ceremony to pull the curtains of the 2022 holiday championship in Misaje.
The looser of the finals went home with 300, 00 FCFA. Winner of the third position had 200,000 FCFA and the fourth team got 100,000 FCFA. The highest goal scorer of the tournament bagged 15000 FCFA, likewise the best goalkeeper and referee. The most disciplined team got a fairplay prize of 25000 FCFA.

The tournament was an opportunity for the community to come together
Some 24 players sieved during the group stages received “man of the match” awards with a cash price of 3000 FCFA per player. Four players drawn from the quarter finals received the Man of the Match award worth 5000 FCFA for each player. At the semi finals the amount doubled, and at the finals the Man of the Match got 15000 FCFA. It should be recalled that the tournament had four groups of four teams each. 8 teams seating at the bottom of each group received 15000 FCFA for participation, the second team in each group got 20000 FCFA, and group leaders received 25000 FCFA.

Winners of the semi marathon and the 100m race were also awarded prizes in the male and female category without discrimination. In the marathon category, the gold medallist had 75,000 FCFA, silver got 50,000 FCFA and the bronze went home with 25,000 FCFA. As for the race the winner took home 15000, the runner up got 10,000 and the third position had 5,000 FCFA. Participants in the semi marathon and race category had 2000 FCFA. The target of the sponsor is to see athletes from Misaje participate in events such as the Mount Cameroon Race of Hope next year. The raison d’être of setting up the Athletics Club.
Third Division, Athletics Club are born
A third division will sprout from the holiday football tournament. So far 42 players have been drafted for the third division. The intention of the sponsor Prof Fuh Calistus Gentry was to scout talents from his home subdivision and give them an opportunity to make a professional career in sports.
He put 5 million FCFA on the table to achieve this dream for his people. Misaje will soon boast of having a third division football club, and an Athletics Club made up of young adults who participated in the holiday sports jamboree codenamed Misaje Sports Empowerment Programme, MISEP 2022.

Ingredient of Peace
Sunday’s football final concluded two months of sports frenzy that took over the subdivision. These sporting activities could only be possible in Misaje because the people have embraced peace and shun separatist activities, the Divisional officer of Misaje who officiated at the finals said. Misaje, he said is a “place to be” thanks to the peace the people enjoy which to him is a pull factor of the many good things happenings in the subdivision. He lauded the sponsor of the tournament Prof Fuh Calistus for the love he has for his people and working relentlessly to develop the subdivision both in infrastructure and human resource.

“Promoting sports is new gold mine in the country and encouraging a people to harvest from this goldmine which in other words is likened to the national cake is laudable,” the first Deputy Mayor of Misaje Gregory Kiloh Ngeh said. He reiterated the need to have every youth on board and that the council shall ensure that the endeavours of the Minister Fuh Calistus are materialized on the ground.
On his part the organizing committee chairman Austin Tamfuh said though amateurs in sports business they were able to lay the ground works towards creating a third Division Team in the subdivision.
