Cameroon:Movement of trucks regulated in Douala due to CHAN

The movement of heavy duty trucks in parts of Douala has been temporarily regulated, the Governor of the Littoral Region Samuel Dieudonné Ivaha Diboua has announced.

According to a communiqué signed by the Governor last weekend, From January 15 to February 8, the circulation of heavy duty trucks, lorrie and other vehicles of the same category will not be able to circulate around Marché ds Fleurs (Bonapriso) and the Dibamba bridge between 3pm and 10pm.

The measure will apply wall through the three weeks of the African Nations Championship with Douala hosting two groups.

According to the Governor, the measure is aimed at reducing traffic caused uby the circulation of these vehicles which could hinder the movement of teams and delegations when they are heading to or from the stadium, especially at Japoma which is located at the east entrance of the stadium.

Thus, all the Governor of the Littoral Region has instructed all the competent authorities and the forces of law and order to ensure to ensure the strict application of the order.

This measure comes at the time when the City Council has drawn up a new traffic plan for the city, in order to decongest traffic. To ensure the safety of persons during the competition, the Governor of the Littoral has thus called for the scrupulous respect for the ban on bags in bars, restaurants, supermarkets and stadiums.

This ban was taken on November 20, 2020 by the latter, two days after the explosion of a locally fabricated explosive in Bonabéri (Douala IV),  leading to two persons seriously injured and admitted at  the military hospital in Bonanjo, Douala.
