As part of the updating of communication materials on COVID-19, in prelude to the next Africa Cup of Nations, the Health Promotion Department of the Ministry of Public Health met in Douala, from December 7 -10, to refine strategies to better communicate with visitors as well as the general public.
The Targets concerned by these messages are the general population and specifically, the spectators, health personnel, youth, women and the community.
Some of the key messages were the call for vaccination, the strict compliance with preventive measures and submission to the COVID-19 screening exercise for all visitors coming into Cameroon for the competition.
To better reach these targets, essential and key messages, Communication supports by intervention such as posters, leaflets, audio spots, image boxes, social media supports (posts, video clips for rumor management, etc.) were designed for some and updated for others.
The National Health Promotion Strategy was therefore been revised, the conditions of access to the stadium and to the fan zones defined. For unvaccinated persons, it will be necessary to present a negative test of less than 24 hours. For those who are vaccinated and have their card, it will be necessary to present a negative test of less than seven days. The main purpose of all the measures taken are to secure not only the foreigners who will arrive in Cameroon but also the the local population, before, during and after the competition.
