Cameroon’s Banjoun Community on July 30 rewarded some 346 students with outstanding academic performance.
The Excellence award ceremony which took place at the Yaounde Conference centre in the presence of some traditional rulers, state dignitaries and clergymen, was marked by a showcase of the Banjoun culture notably traditional dances from four zones of the area.
The 346 students from the Centre and West Region received prizes worth 25,000 to 50,000FCFA.
Speaking during the occasion, the head of the Banjoun Community in Yaounde Hon. Kouinche Albert during the occasion called on the people to promote the spirit of unity and multi culturalism.
Meanwhile the Minister in charge of Special duties at the Presidency of the Republic Philippe Mbarga Mboa lauded the initiative and called on beneficiaries to wisely utilize such an opportunity. He also commended the Banjoun people in particular and the West Region at large for contributing greatly in building the City of Yaounde.
