Cameroon’s Emilia Monjowa Lifaka, elected CPA chairperson

Honourable Emilia Monjowa Lifaka, CPDM lawmaker and Deputy Speaker of Cameroon’s National Assembly, has been elected as the next chairperson of the executive committee of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) for the next three years.

Lifaka, who is a high esteemed woman politician got 107 votes out of 192 in an election held at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre on Tuesday, November 7.

Meanwhile, other candidates for the CPA chairperson were Niki Raffle, speaker of Cook Islands, Pacific got 70 votes while Shirly M Osborne, MLA of Montserrat, got 17 votes.

It should be noted that all three candidates who contested for the chairperson post were female.

The results were annouced by the CPA secretary general Akbar Khan.
