The Social Democratic Front, SDF has planned to stage a protest march in Douala to express discontent at the decision by the elections management body, Elecam ,to maintain polling stations in military barracks.
Elecam revealed in a press conference last week that military barracks are public places and will probably host polling stations ahead of the upcoming Presidential election billed for October 7.
A decision that seems not to go down well with the main opposition party who have been fighting against it since the turn of the year.
They have now decided to take the fight to another level with a protest march billed in Douala on September 15. According to a note signed by the SDF Chairman for the Littoral Region Jean Michel Nitcheu, informing the Senior Divisional Officer of kthe march, the march will start at the Salles de Fetes in Akwa after a meeting and end at the Elecam Regional office.
It is now left to be seen if the Divisional Officer of the Douala I municipality will grant authorization for the meeting and public march to take place.
