Cameroon:SDF officials torn over post-election protest march

Officials of the Social Democratic Front in the Littoral region are torn over demonstration on Sunday October 21 to protest against alleged election malpractices during the October 7 Presidential election.

A communiqué earlier signed on Monday by the Littoral regional chairman of the SDF, Jean Michel Nintcheu announced a peaceful protest in Douala III municiplity on Sunday October 21.

However, the same day, the SDF Wouri Divisional Coordinator Adolphe Lottin Same signed  a letter addressed to the Senior Divisional Officer of the Wouri Division distancing the party from the planned protest and called on all party supporters to steer clear.

Sources within the party say party hierarchy failed to back Jean Michel Nintcheu in his move reason why he used the letter head of the National Assembly while issuing his communiqué and not that of the party.

This is not the first time Jean Michel Nintcheu is attempting to organise a protest march but has always met a brick wall from administrative authorities. This time its seems his own “enemies” are from within even before he faces the administration.
