Winners of the 2021 edition of the Miss and Mr Young Albino were announced at the finals which took place on February 11 at the Cameroon Cultural Centre.
Eve Patience Belombo and Loic Abondo were elected during a very competitive final last Thursday. The candidates were judged from their beauty, stage expressions as well as timing in defending their projects.
After the various stages, nine candidates were retained for the final; five girls and four boys. At the end of the parade Eve Patience Belombo was voted by the jury as winner in the ladies’ category, ahead of Audrey Pierrette Nlom and Blanche Euphrasie Tassi.
“As I said earlier, setting up my clothing brand for Albinos, supporting the SOS Stigmatization association at the end of the month, financially and materially, and raising awareness are my plans for the future. What motivated me to enter this competition is the fact that albinos are most often marginalized in society. I would like people to know that albinos are human beings because love has no colour, ” Eve Patience Belombo, Miss Young Albino Cameroon 2021, said.
On the other hand, Loic Abondo was voted by the jury as 2021 Mr Young Albino ahead of Jacob Mani and Fredy Mfomo.
The winner said he will in the days ahead embark on a sensitisation campaign for albinos in primary and secondary schools.
“I am very moved and words alone cannot explain my joy. But I thank the SOS Stigmatization Association, which fights every day for the respect of albinos. I want to also thank the public who were there to support me. The next step is the implementation of my project, notably raising awareness in primary and secondary schools,” Loic Abondo said.
