The Buea council on Wednesday July 17 adopted a new market schedule to fight and counter the regular Monday ghost town operations in the municipality.
During a session held at the Buea Council chambers on Wednesday, Councillors resolved that markets will henceforth hold on a daily basis in the municipality in an attempt to fight ghost towns.
The Mayor of Buea, Patrick Ekema Esunge said the move will help traders and businessmen whose activities have been hit by the regular Monday ghost town operations.
He also said the move is to help the local population have access to basic necessities at any time and urged them to embrace the new schedule.
The Mayor said businessmen and traders will be schooled in the days ahead by the council on the importance of the daily market schedule.
