Camroon: Prominent Anglophone lawyer, Sama Francis passes away

The death of prominent Anglophone lawyer and frontline human rights activist in Cameroon, Barrister Sama Francis has passed away.

He died in the early hours of Monday, June 8 at the Clinique Jourdain  in the nation’s capital Yaounde,where he had been rushed to on Saturday when he began to feel uneasy, sources said.

Reports from the clinic say he would be buried later today in a public cemetry following suspicions he died of the COVID-19, though we can not independently confirm.

Barrister Sama Francis served as the President of the Cameroon Bar Association between 2012 and 2015.

A key member of the Social Democratic Front, he was the party’s lead counsel on several occasions at the Supreme Court, especially during electoral matters.
