At least 15 people have been killed in an attack on a camp for displaced persons of the United Nations Integrated Multidimensional Mission for Stabilization in the Central African Republic (MUNISCA), in Kaga Bandoro, according to humanitarian sources contacted by APA on Tuesday in Bangui.The site of the displaced persons of the MINUSCA in Kaga-Bandoro in the prefecture of Nana-Gribizi was the target of an attack of armed men assimilated to ex-Seleka on 1st July.
However, the UN peacekeepers succeeded in foiling the assault.
“There was indeed an attack in Kaga-Bandoro but the force of the MINUSCA and the police unit control deployed along the main highways of the city ensure the protection the camp of the displaced,” Vladimir Monteiro, the Spokesman of the UN institution told an interview with a private radio in Bangui.
Thanks to this robust posture, “the armed men did not reach their goal,” he explained.
Since December 2016, the city of Kaga Bandoro has been the scene of violence by armed groups causing several deaths and forcing many to flee their homes.
