    • Cameroon: Campaign against hate speech, xenophobia underway nationwide

      The national campaign against hate speech and xenofobia launched by the National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism is underway in the country’s ten regions.

      Speaking in the Littoral region this Wednesday at the start of a three-day workshop, the representative of the Mussongue Commission, Ama Tutu Muna said despite Government’s efforts, the fight against these two phenomena is still not satisfactory.
      In the North West region, Barrister Nico Halle, on behalf of the commission called for an end to hypocrisy and made it clear that promoters of hate speech and violence do not have a place in the Cameroonian society.

       

    • Cameroon: 102 crates of contraband drinks seized in Limbe

      Elements of the Limbe Customs Brigade have impounded 102 crates of malta Guinness drinks illegally smuggled into the country.

      The seizure was made Tuesday June 15 in Limbe, South West region of Cameroon.

    • AFCON 2021: Veron Mosengo-Omba inaugurates CAF bureau in Yaounde

      The Secretary General of the Confederation of African Football CAF, Veron Mosengo-Omba has inaugurated the CAF office in Yaounde, ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations Cameroon will host come January 2022.

      The inauguration ceremony took place Tuesday June 15 at the COCAN building in Yaounde.

       

    • Cameroon: Handball lionesses thrash Nigerian counterparts 44-14 to grab AFCON semi final ticket

      Cameroon’s handball lionesses have qualified for the smi finals of the ongoing Senior Women’s Handball Africa Cup of Nations in Yaounde.

      They humbled their Nigerian counterparts 44 goals to 14 to mover over to the next stage in a match that has been considered as a festival of goals for the lionesses.

      The girls of Serge Christian Guebogo will face Congo this Wednesday in the second semi final.

    • Cameroon: Handball lionesses book qualification ticket for World Championship

      Cameroon’s indomitable handball lionesses have qualified for the upcoming World Championship slated for December in Spain.

      The girls of Serge Christian Guebogo qualified for the competition after urging their Nigerian counterparts 44 goals to 14 in the knock out stage of the ongoing Senior Women’s Handball Africa Cup of Nations in Yaounde.

    • Cameroon commemorates International Day of African Child

      Cameroon joins the rest of the continent to commemorates the 31st edition of the International Day of the African Child under the theme: “Protect every child against violence exploitation, neglect and abuse, a priority for the Cameroon Government.”

      To mark the day in Cameroon, a special advocacy training to strengthen the legal and institutional framework for the protection of children against all forms of violence will hold as from 10am at the National Assembly.

      It will be presided over by the Rt Honorable Cavaye Yeguie Djibril in the presence of international organizations in charge of children’s matters.

    • Cameroon: Two female MPs cheat death in accident on Dla-Yde highway

      Two female Members of Parliament, Hons Marlyse Soppo and Marguerite Dissake are said to have had a road accident on Monday evening near Pouma, on the D’la – Y’dé highway.

      Reports say  luckily, both of them survived without any injuries and were taken to the hospital for checkup.

    • Cameroon: Campaign against hate speech kicks off across national territory

      Delegations from the National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multi-Culturalism begin a campaign against hate speech and xenophobia across the national territory this Tuesday June 15.

      The president of the Commission, Peter Mafany Musongue has instructed the delegations to hold meetings with regional authorities, media organs and youth organizations to create more awareness about the campaign.

    • Cameroon: Veron Mosengo-Omba to inaugurate CAF office in Yaounde

      The Secretary General of the Confederation African Football CAF, Veron Mosengo-Omba   will this Tuesday June 15 inaugurate the CAF office in Yaounde ahead of the 2021 edition African Cup of Nations slated for January 2022.

      After this inauguration, Veron Mosengo-Omba is expected to hold a press conference at FECAFOOT with members of the competitions organizing committee of the AFCON 2021.

      Cameroon’s handball lionesses will face their Nigerian counterparts tomorrow Tuesday June 15 in a match to grab its ticket for the semi finals of the ongoing Senior Women’s Handball AFCON played in Yaounde.

      It will be the girls’ second encounter against Nigeria. In their first confrontation, the lionesses humbled their Nigerian counterparts 19 on 31 to qualify for the quarter finals.

    • Cameroon: Student snatches FCFA 900 000 from principal’s office in Ngaoundere

      A form four student of Lycee de Beka Hosseré in Ngaoundere, Adamawa region

      is reported to have stolen the sum of FCFA 900 000 from the principal’s office.

      According to reports, the student successfully dug a hole, got into the administrative building, and made away with the money.

      He was caught thanks to the video surveillance camera installed around the building that recorded all his movements.

      The money has been recovered, meanwhile his father is said to have collapsed 2 times after seeing the video footage of his son committing the act, the case has been handed to the police.

    • Cameroon: Four individuals arrested over burglary at Directorate General of Taxation

      Four individuals accused of having broken into offices at the Directorate General of Taxation headquarter in Yaounde last week have fallen into the dragnet of security forces.

      They were presented to the press this Monday June 14, one week after the burglary.

      They are said to have broken into the FCFA Billions-construction and made away with about FCFA 380,000.

    • Cameroon: 26 drug dealers arrested in Douala

      26 drug dealers including, 03 ladies have been arrested by the elements of the Mabanda Gendarmerie around the Gare routière Bonabéri neighborhood in Douala, Littoral region.

       

       These individuals aged between 19 and 43 were caught June 9 with a bag full of Indian hemp.

    • Cameroon: Five suspected robbers arrested in Tonga, West region

      On Wednesday June 9, elements of the Bangante Gendarmerie arrested five suspected robbers and recovered stolen items in Tonga, a locality in the Nde Division West region of Cameroon.

      This arrest came after three citizens complained last June 2 that their houses were robbed and property carried away.

      After investigations, elements of the gendarmerie laid hands on them.

    • US Christopher Lamora, nominee Ambassador to Cameroon laments over Anglophone crises

      The aspirant to the position of U.S Ambassador to Cameroon, Christopher Lamora has expressed sadness over the escalating situation of the Crisis which has resulted in over 3000 deaths and over a million displaced.

      He was speaking during a statement at the US senate hearing testimony on Thursday June 10.

      Lamora is currently Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S Embassy in Accra, Ghana.

    • Cameroon: Medard Fogue elected new mayor of Bandjoun

      Medard Fogue has been elected as the new mayor of Dembeng-Bandjoun, a locality in the Koung-khi division, West region of the Cameroon.

      He won the elections organized at the Bandjoun city council Thursday June 10 with a 100% vote.
