    • AFCON 2021: Visiting FIFA-CAF inspection team in Limbe today

      The visiting FIFA and CAF delegation in Cameroon to inspect infrastructures earmarked for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations are in Limbe this Thursday.

      They have already visited the Limbe Centenary Stadium and are expected to move over to the Limbe Omnisports Stadium.

      The inspection team is led by Sports and Physical Education Minister, Prof Narcisse Mouelle Kombi.


    • Cameroon: West Regional Councillors hold first session

      Councillors of the West region have held their first Council session after their election last December as first ever Regional Councillors in Cameroon.

      During the session which opened yesterday in Bafoussam, they adopted FCFA 2.7 billion as budget for the year 2021.

      The Council is ongoing.

    • Cameroon: Police teargas protesting traders in Douala market

      Forces of law and order are reported to have used teargas to disperse some protesting traders at the Nkololoun market in New Bell, Douala II.

      According to reports, the traders protested against the implementation of a decision by the Douala II Council which imposes a FCFA 100,000 per square metre on roadside vendors.

      This prompted police to use teargas to disperse the protesting traders.

    • Cameroon: Social Democratic Front clocks 31

      The Social Democratic Front party clocked 31 years old Wednesday May 26.

      On the occasion of this anniversary, the party through its Chairman, Ni John Fru Ndi called on the Head of State to engage in frank dialogue to resolve the long lasting conflict in the Anglophone regions.

      According to many pundits, the party is gradually losing its popularity.

      The President of the National Assembly, Cavaye Yeguie Djibril has convened Members of Parliament for the June session.

      According to a bureau order signed Wednesday May 26, the session opens on June 8.

    • Cameroon: Prof Alice Nga Minkala appointed Director of ASMAC

      Dr Alice Nga Minkala is the new Director of the Advanced School of Mass Communication, ASMAC.

      She was appointed by Presidential decree signed Wednesday May 26.

      She replaces Prof Laurent Charles Boyomo Assala who goes on retirement.

      Before today’s appointment, Prof Alice Nga Minkala served as Deputy Director in charge of studies in ASMAC.

      The President of the Republic of Cameroon has appointed new officials in some State Universities across the country.

      According to a decree signed Wednesday May 26, Aboubakari Saki becomes new President of the Board of Directors of the University of Maroua.

      Likewise, Abdoulaye Babale has been appointed Board Chair of the University of Ngaoundere.

    • Cameroon: Paul Biya appoints new University Board Chairs

      The President of the Republic, Paul Biya has appointed new officials in State Universities across the country.

      According to a decree published Wednesday May 26, Aboubakari Saki becomes the new President of the Board of Directors of the University of Maroua.

      Likewise, Abdoulaye Babale has been appointed Chair person of the Management board of the University of Ngaoundere.



    • Cameroon: International Cycling Tour kicks off Saturday

      The 17th edition of Cameroon International Cycling Tour kicks off this Saturday May 29 in Yaounde.

      Ahead of the cycling event, delegates from the 10 participating countries from Europe and Africa begin arriving Cameroon tomorrow Thursday May 27.

      The first lap will take the athletes from Yaounde to Ayos.

      Cameroon will be represented by 12 athletes from the SNH velo club and the national team.



    • Cameroon: Bui SDO prohibits circulation of unauthorized bikes following Amba ambush

      The Senior Divisional Officer for Bui, North West region, Lanyuy Harry Ngwanyi has prohibited the circulation of unauthorized motorbikes in his area of command.

      This is the substance of a note signed yesterday Tuesday May 25.

      According to the prefectural order, authorization will be delivered jointly by competent Divisional Officers and Municipal authorities in various subdivision.

      The decision comes after five Government forces were ambushed in Lassin, Noni Sub
      Division Tuesday May 25. It will be effective as from June 1.

    • Cameroon: African Development Bank pledges financial, technical assistance to Gov’t

      The African Development Bank (AfDB) has pledged financial and technical
      support to the Cameroonian government to help in the implement reforms and development
      projects in the two English-speaking regions of the country.

      This information was made known during a meeting with the Prime Minister, Head of
      Government, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute and representative of the bank Tuesday May 25 in Yaounde.

    • Cameroon: Huge quantity of smuggled bags of sugar seized in Kousseri

      Elements of the zone 2 Halcomi operation have seized about 1068 bags of illegally imported sugar in Kouseeri, a
      locality in the Logone and Chari Division, Far North region of Cameroon.
      The smuggled products were intercepted and impounded Monday May 24.

      Elements of the Nlongkak Gendarmerie Brigade have arrested an alleged drug dealer in possession of 24 kilograms of cannabis Yaounde.

      According to reports, he was arrested last Sunday alongside several other individuals found in possession of cannabis.



    • AFCON 2021: CAF inspection team in Douala this Wednesday

      The visiting CAF delegation in Cameroon to inspect infrastructures that will host the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations continues its tour with Douala this Wednesday May 26.

      The first stop was at the Japoma Complex.

      After touring the complex, the delegation will proceed with hospital facilities and COVID-19 screening centres in the economic capital.

      Yesterday they were in Bafoussam.

      Yesterday, they visited the Olembe Sports Complex in the outskirts of Yaounde.

    • Cameroon: Entrance exam into African School for Meteorology and Civil Aviation starts on May 26

      The 2021 session of the entrance exam into the African School for Meteorology and Civil Aviation dubbed EAMAC will take place in Yaounde from May 26 to June 2.

      According to a release signed by the Minister of Transports, Jean Ernest Massena Ngalle Bibehe, from the 26 to the 28 of May, exams for Civil Aviation engineers, technicians and exploitation will take place at Lycée Général Leclerc.

      Meanwhile, from May 31 to June 2, psycho technical tests and English orals for contollers will take place at Lycée Général Leclerc and at the Pilot Linguistic Centre respectively.

      List of those authorized to sit for the exams is available at the Ministry of Transports.

    • Cameroon: Nigerian, CAR refugees to benefit from national health care system

      The United Nations High Commission for Refugees in Cameroon has signed a partnership with the Ministry of Public Health to ensure better health care services to Nigerian, CAR refugees on the Cameroonian soil?

      The partnership agreement was signed Tuesday May 25 in Yaounde between Olivier Beer, Representative of the UNHCR in Cameroon and Health boss, Dr Malachie Malachie.

      It gives Nigerian and CAR refugees access to the national health care system.

    • Cameroon joins rest of continent to commemorate Africa Day

      Cameroon joins other countries in the continent to celebrate the 2021 Africa Day, an annual commemoration of the foundation of the Organisation of African Unity on 25 May 1963.

      It is celebrated in various countries on the African continent, as well as around the world. The Organisation was transformed into the African Union on 9 July 2002 in Durban, South Africa, but the holiday continues to be celebrated on 25 May.

      The National Assembly has lost another member, Hon. Eric Ntiba Agbwa, CPDM MP for the Upper Nyong in the East region, bringing the number of deaths in the House to eight during the current Legislative year.

      He died this Monday May 24 after succumbing to wounds incurred in a car crash in Yaounde.

      His death comes few hours after that of Hon. Marinette Ngo Yetna, CPDM MP for Sanaga Maritime.

    • Cameroon: 493 absentee civil servants dismissed

    • Cameroon: Hon. Marinette Ngo Yetno passes away

      The death has been announced of CPDM Member of Parliament for Sanaga Maritime, Hon. Marinette Ngo Yetna.

      Reports says she died in a private clinic in Douala.

      She is the death seventh member of parliament to die in this Legislative year.

      Her death comes a month after that of Deputy Speaker, Hon. Emilia Monjowa Lifaka.

    • Cameroon: Close to 50,000 immunized against COVID-19

      48,526 persons in Cameroon have already received for some their first doses of either the Sinopharm or the AstraZeneca vaccine and for others their two doses as the national immunization campaign against the pandemic enters new week.

      According to a tweet by the Minister of Public Health, Dr Malachie Manaouda, 29,478 were administered the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine meanwhile 19,048 received the British AstraZeneca vaccine as at Friday May 21.
