      This seizure occurred Saturday May 15 during a Halcomi operation.

      About five children are reported to have escaped from death after consuming a wrong specie of mushroom they harvested from the farm in Nkongsamba, a locality in the Mungo Division, Littoral region of Cameroon.

      These kids were rushed to the Nkongsamba regional hospital, where they are being taken care of.

      A lady whose name we got as Awa Meriga has been sentenced to 8 months imprisonment with a fine of FCFA 500,000 for faking a pregnancy and attempting to steal a newborn baby in Bafia, a locality in the Mbam and Inoubou Division, Centre region of Cameroon.

      The sentence was handed down last May 5 by the Bafia Court.
      Reports say few months ago, she was arrested and detained at the city main prison for trying to defraud her boyfriend’s family after his death.

    • Cameroon: Decomposed body of 60-year-old man discovered in Douala

      The decomposed body of a 60-year-old man was discovered Tuesday May 11 in a room in the quartier Bejanga in the Bomono gare village neighborhood in the Douala IV subdivision.
      Reports from the region say the pungent smell led to the macabre discovery.
      It is said that the body had been in the room for about three days.
      The deceased, sources say neither had a wife nor child.

      Parents having their children at the Government Primary School Bafang, a locality in the Upper-Nkam Divison, West region of Cameroon yesterday Tuesday May 11 stormed the school premises to take their children home when they got news on the presence of an anti-COVID-19 vaccination team to immunize their kids against the deadly virus.

      An information disclaimed by the said vaccination team who indicated that they came in the side lines of the national polio vaccination days campaign to administer polio drops to the children.

      The angry parents cared less about the nature of the vaccination, forced themselves into the school premises and took their children home.

      Reports have it that many of these pupils tried to run away when they heard a vaccination team was in school and in the process, some of them got wounded.

    • Cameroon: National Cycling Coach, Dieudonne Ntep dies in car crash

      Cameroon’s national cycling coach, Dieudonne Ntep is no more.

      The international athlete died Monday May 10 at about 5pm in a car crash on the Yaounde-Douala high way.

      According to reports, he and other officials of the national cycling team were on board a mini bus traveling to Douala when a truck from an opposite direction hit their vehicle.

      Coach Dieudonne died on the spot due to the violent nature of the crash on his side meanwhile the other Cycling officials recorded slide injuries.

      The President of the Republic of Cameroon, Paul Biya has offered 30,000 face masks to the Muslim and Christian communities in the country ahead of the feast of Ramadan and Ascension observed by both religious bodies respectively.

      The anti-COVID-19 gifts were handed over to the Archbishop of Yaounde, Imams and Secretary General of the Presbyterian Church Cameroon by the Minister of Territorial Administration Paul Atanga Nji Monday May 10, few days to the religious observances.

    • Cameroon: Muslim faithful intensify preparations ahead of feast of Ramadan

      Muslim faithful in Cameroon have intensified preparation ahead of the feast of the Ramadan expected in some few days.

      According to a communique published last week by the Lunar Crescent Commission, the feast could be observed Thursday May 13 provided the moon appears by Wednesday.

      Ramathan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar.

      It is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting, prayer, reflection and community, a commemoration of Muhammad’s first revelation, the annual observance of Ramadan is regarded as one of the Five Pillars of Islam.

      It lasts twenty-nine to thirty days, from one sighting of the crescent moon to the next.

    • Cameroon: SDF legal dep’t to decide on Osih’s fate in three weeks

    • Orange Cameroun offers sickness, accident insurance policy to journalism associations

      A number of journalism associations and trade unions in Cameroon will benefit from sickness, accident and deliveries insurance policy offered by Orange Cameroun in the sidelines of a partnership agreement signed last Monday May 3 on the occasion of the World Press Freedom Day.

      According to the national President of the Cameroon Association of English-speaking Journalists, CAMASEJ, one of the associations entitled to the insurance policy, the partnership will last for a period of one year and the coverage policy set at FCFA 400,000.

      He adds that for members to be eligible to this policy, they will have to pay a premium of FCFA 30,000.
