    • Cameroon: Indomitable Lions clash with Cote d’Ivoire in World Cup qualifier

      The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon will clash on Monday, September 6 against the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire in a crucial 2022 World Cup qualifier in Abidjan.

      The Lions go into the game buoyed by their two nil victory over Malawi last Friday in Yaounde as Cote d’Ivoire were held to a goalless draw by Mozambique.

      A win for the Lions will open a five-point gap over their biggest rivals in the group and put them in the riving seat while the Ivorians will be looking to wrestle away the top spot with a victory

      The electoral registers for the 2021 electoral year close this Tuesday August 31.

      The Director General of the elections governing body, Elecam, Erik Essousse will this Tuesday visit two communal centers in the Mfoundi Division, Yaounde to have a balance sheet of the process.

      As far as the Yaounde I Municipality is concerned, statistics from elecam show that 1779 people registered from the period of January to August 27, 2021. Meanwhile, the National statistics will be released on Wednesday by Erik Essousse during a press breifing.

    • Cameroon/2022 State budget: Reconstruction of crisis-hit NW,SW regions among priority projects

      The reconstruction of the North West and South West regions of Cameroon badly hit by the ongoing over four-year Anglophone crisis is amongst top priority projects highlighted to feature in the preparation of the 2022 State Budget as mentioned in a circular signed Monday, August 30 by the Head of State, Paul Biya.

      Other projects include; the organization and hosting of the 2021 AFCON in 2022 and the Conclusions of the Financial and Economic Agreements with the IMF within the 2021-2024 time frame.

    • Cameroon: PCC calls for investigations into Bali shooting

      The Presbyterian Church in Cameroon has finally reacted to the killing of one of its faithful and shooting at its pastor during a divine service at the Ntanfoang church in Bali Sunday August 22.

      In the communique dated Monday August 23, the church says it is with a heavy heart that they received the news about the barbaric act orchestrated by those who are meant to protect them.

      They have called on the Government to open an investigation in order to track down those responsible.

    • Cameroon: Antonio Conceicao calls 28 lions to camp ahead of World Cup qualifiers

      The Head coach of the indomitable lions of Cameroon, Antonio Conceicao has summoned 28 players to camp ahead of the two confrontations of Cameroon counting for the first and second day qualifying matches of the World Cup slated for Qatar in 2022.

      Fabrice Ondoa who has been without a club is absent from the list likewise Andre Onana who has been banned from all football activities until January.

    • Cameroon: Army denies implication in Bali church shooting

      The Cameroonian army has distanced itself from the widely condemned indiscriminate shooting by unidentified armed men last Sunday August 22 at the Presbyterian Church in Ntanfoang, Bali in Bui Division of the restive North West region.

      The shooting left one nursing mother dead and injured the pastor conducting service..

      In a highly awaited reaction, army spokesperson, Navy Captain Cyrille Serge Atonfack said the attack was perpetrated by a fraction of Ambazonia fighters in the area named the Bufallo Fighters of Bali under a certain General Grand Pa’a.

      The mortal remains of former ally of Maurice Kamto and technical adviset to the President of the Republic, Christian Penda Ekoka are in Cameroon.

      The remains left Canada where he died last August 8 from Pancreatic cancer and arrived the Douala International Airport Thursday August 19 where it was expected by family members and supporters of the ACT/AGIR Movement which he created.

      The indomitable lions of Cameroon will play their counterparts from Burkina Faso in the match opener of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations slated for January 9, 2022 at the Olembe Sports Complex.

      Cameroon and Burkina Faso share the same group together with Ethiopia and Cape Verd following the draw ceremony of the competition that took place Tuesday August 17 at the Yaounde Conference Centre in the presence of the resident of the Confederation of African Football, CAF, Patrice Motsepe.

      Cameroon’s Head of State, Paul Biya, current chair of the CEMAC sub region will tomorrow Wednesday August 18 preside over an extraordinary summit of Head of States via video conferencing at the Unity Palace.

      President Paul Biya who was out of the country for a “brief stay” hurried home Monday August 16 ahead of tomorrow’s summit.

      They are expected to talk among others of the third wave of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic that has already hit some African countries.

      Over thirty former Indomitable Lions have been appointed into the follow up committee of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

      They were appointed on August 12 by the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Professor Narcisse Mouelle Kombi who doubles as the President of the Local Organising Committee.

      The committee is headed by former striker Roger Milla and comprises of members like Wome Nlend, Ndip Akem, Alioum Boukar, Jean II Makoun, Eugene Ekoule..etc

    • 2021 AFCON draw ceremony: Today is D-Day

      The long awaited draw ceremony of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations will hold this Tuesday August 17at the Yaounde Conference Centre.

      The ceremony will be attended by 650 guests including CAF and FIFA delegations and about a hundred journalists from Africa and part of the world.

      The ceremony is scheduled for 7pm and will be hosted by Nigeria’s Mimi Fawaz and Cameroonian journalist, Leonard Chatelain.

      Her detention according to him may be a bad signal to foreign technology partners.

      Calls for her release have intensified after she spent her third night at the Douala Gendarmerie Legion after being denied access to the Attorney General.

    • Cameroon: Rebecca Enonchong arrested for ‘contempt of court’ in Douala

      Cameroonian-born Rebecca Enonchong, a heavyweight in African tech based in the USA is reported to have been arrested in Douala for ‘contempt of court’.

      According to a tweet posted an hour ago by popular human right activist, Kah Walla, Rebecca is under police custody at the Douala Legion Gendarmerie since yesterday.

      She is being held without any warrant. Kah Walla indicates in her tweet that the Attorney General rquested verbally her arrested for ‘contempt of court.

    • Cameroon: Two suspected rapists, kidnappers presented to population in Yaounde

      Two individuals suspected of kidnapping and severally raping a 16-year-old girl in Yaounde have been arrested and presented to the population.

      The suspects identified as Edand Mbarga Jean Ted aged 22 and Melvin Kabate Meyong aged 23 were arrested in the night of last July 28 breaking 29 by elements of the Criminal Research and Investigation Unit of the Judicial Police for the Cenyre region.

      Avenir de la Kadey and Solidarité Plus travel agencies have been slammed an indefinite suspension from all transport activities.

      The suspension issued by the Minister of Transports this Tuesday during a crisis meeting in Yaounde follows two road accidents involving buses of the aforementioned travel agencies last week that claimed the lives of about 40 people.
