      The Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Joseph Beti Assomo will be representing President Paul Biya at the funeral ceremony of late Chadian President Idriss Deby Itno slated to take place tomorrow Friday in Ndjamena.

      The Minister and his delegation arrived the Chadian capital city this afternoon.

    • Cameroon: CDC staff arrested over alleged embezzlement of palm oil worth FCFA 800M

      The Financial Director, former security manager and security guard of the Cameroon Development Corporation (CDC) in Limbe are reported to have been arrested for allegedly embezzling palm oil worth FCFA 800M.

      The accused are being detained at the Buea judicial police station and will be transferred to Yaounde in the coming days.

    • Cameroon: Gov’t urged to create employment for youths to end Anglophone crises

      Experts in Conflicts management in the North West have urged the Government to create employment which is a factor to end the conflict in that part of the country.

      The call was made Wednesday April 21 in Bamenda, during a conference on how to prevent youths from joining armed groups in the region.

      Government officials have received the Covid-19 vaccine at the Prime’s Minister Office Wednesday April 21 in Yaounde, centre region of Cameroon.

      The Prime Minister was the first to be administered the vaccine then followed a host of Cabinet Ministers and Government Officials  including the Minister of Higher Education, Jacques Fame Ndongo, Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi.

      At the invitation of U.S. President Joe Biden, Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend and deliver an important speech at the Leaders Summit on Climate on April 22 via video link from Beijing, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying announced on Wednesday.

      China hopes this summit will serve as a useful platform for communication on global cooperation to tackle the challenge of climate change, promoting the full and effective implementation of the Paris Agreement, and jointly promoting global climate and environmental governance, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said at a press briefing in response to a relevant question

      Theses medical kits were collected Tuesday night by the Idenau Commercial Brigade of Customs, concealed in a transport vehicle with various goods.

      Reports say about seven persons have lost their lives in a road accident in Douala, Littoral Region of Cameroon.
      According to reports, the accident occurred when a heavy truck transporting woods lost control and emptied its content on the highway.

      Fire fighters are said to rush to the scene to recue victims including driver of a Prado car that was affected and road users.

    • Cameroon: Five killed by unidentified gunmen in Bamenda

      Al least five persons have been reported dead and several others wounded in a shout out at a drinking spot in Nsongwa, a locality of the Bamenda II subdivision, Mezam Division in the North West region of Cameroon.

      The shout out orchestrated by yet to be identified gunmen occurred in the night of Sunday April 18. Sources say these gunmen targeted somebody at the bar.

    • Cameroon: Secondary school students in Douala urged to avoid drug consumption

      Students of the Government Bilingual High School joss Bonanjo in Douala have been urged to abstain from consuming drugs, alcohol and involving themselves in gambling.

      The call was made by members of the Cameroons Consumer Foundation (FOCACO) as they launched an 11-day sensitization campaign to raise awareness on the dangers of drug consumption in minors.

      The campaign will lead them to many other schools in Douala.

    • Cameroon: About six die in suspected Amba, military shootout in Bamenda

      Six people have been reported dead and some few others wounded following an exchange of guns between the military and Ambazonia fighters in the chief town of the restive North West region.

      Sources say the incident happened Sunday April 18 in the Nsongwa vicinity in Bamenda, Mezam Division of the North West.

      Sources say the operation to release these hostages was held by the 5th Joint Military Region.

      The Prime Minister Head of Government is present at this burial ceremony which is ongoing in Douala as personal representative of the Head of State, Paul Biya.

      The prelate died early April 3 aged 91.

      16 detainees accused of being involved in the burning of military barracks in Wum in 2016 have regained their freedom after spending five years in prison.

      According to sources, the 16 men were found guilty of minor crimes and slammed sentences they have already served and even exceeded.

    • Cameroon: Chinese nationals cue at Orca to be immunized against COVID-19

      A good number of Chinese nationals last Thursday April 15 gathered at the Orca specialized COVID-19 treatment centre in Yaounde to be administered the Chinses Sinopharm vaccine against the deadly Coronavirus pandemic.
