    • Cameroon: Buea fire incident leaves two persons dead

      At least two persons have died following a fire incident that broke out on Sunday breaking Monday night in Buea, South West Region of Cameroon, sources have confirmed.

      An 89-year old woman and her seven-year old grand son were burnt to ashes after fire broke out in their house built with wood when they were sleeping. The cause of the fire is not known but neighbours suspect an electrical fault on a pole close to the house. Before neighbours could intervene, the fire had already consumed the house and killed the two occupants.

    • Cameroon:Youth Parliament opens today

      The fourth edition of the Cameroon youth parliament opens today at the Yaounde Conference Centre and will be presided over by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Honourable Cavaye Yeguie Djibril.

      The parliament opens in prelude to celebrations marking the Youth Day which hold on February 11 though this year’s edition will be low key after government banned the regular march past parade to avoid the propagation of the COVID-19.

    • Cameroon:Fire razes stalls at Nkwen market in Bamenda

      Several stalls at the Mile 4 Nkwen market in Bamenda, North West Region of Cameroon have been razed to ashes following a fire  outbreak late on Monday night.

      The fire broke out late after 10pm, conuming several shops before locals could rush to the scene to intevne while waiting for the firefighters who arrived to contain the fire from spreading to other nearby buildings.

      This is the latest fire incident in Bamenda after a double fire recently consumed dormitories at the Prebyterian Secondary School in Nkwen.

      Two persons are confirmed dead and others injured in a road accident at Ombe, Mutengene
      in the South West region on Saturday Febuary 6.
      According to reports, two vehicles on high speed collided as one tried to overtake a car ahead of
      it, causing the casualties.

      Two other vehicles in an attempt to dodge the colliding vehicles also
      ran into each other.

      Several houses, business premises went up in flames in the Mendong neighborhood in Cameroon’s political capital Yaounde.
      According to reports, the flames had already consumed several shops and destroyed
      properties by the time firefighters arrived.

    • Cameroonian-born basketbaler passes away in Philippines

      Clement Leutcheu, former member of the Douala Basketball School, was found dead in his
      room on Saturday, February 6 in Manila, the capital city of the Philippines.
      The main cause of the death of the 25-year-old Cameroonian is still obscure but could come to
      the limelight in the days ahead as a medico-judicial investigation has been launched by
      Philippino authorities.
      Clement Leutcheu is the second Cameroonian to be found dead in his room in Manila in the
      Philippines in 5 months.

    • CHAN 2020: Morocco wins 2nd title after defeating Mali in final

      Morocco has won the TOTAL African Nations Championship (CHAN) for the second consecutive time after
      overcoming Mali’s bold challenge 2-0 in a thrilling final at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde
      on Sunday night.

      The atlas lions thus become the first team to win a second consecutive title in the CHAN tournament designed
      exclusively for home-based players.

    • Cameroon: ENEO sacks about 80 staff over complicity in electricity fraud

      About eighty employees of the Cameroon Electricity Corporation, ENEO are reported to have been sacked after they were accused of complicity in electricity fraud for the year 2020 in some 20,000 homes.

      The information was disclosed by the Director General of the corporation, Eric Mansuy yesterday February 3.

      He added that about 200 electricity fraud barons have been arrested in line with this same fraud affair.

      Fraud has been causing the corporation about 60 billion loss annually.

    • CHAN 2020: Cameroon plays Guinea in 3rd place game on Saturday

      The intermediate lions of Cameroon will face their counterparts from Guinea in a game counting for the third place in the ongoing African Nations Football Championship CHAN at the Reunification Stadium in Bepanda, Douala on Saturday February 6.

      The lions lost to Morocco four goals to nil meanwhile Guinea lost to Mali one goal to zero during the semi-final matches played yesterday in Limbe and Douala respectively.

      His Eminence Pietro Cardinal Parolin, Pope Francis’ envoy to Cameroon has come to the end of his week-long visit.

      The Vatican Secretary of State who met with religious and political leaders including President Paul Biya left the country early this Wednesday February 3.

      He was seen off by the Prime Minister Head of Government, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute at the Yaounde Nsimalen Airport.

    • Cameroon: Four students accused of practicing witchcraft arrested in Kribi

      Four students of 4e and 3e at Government Bilingual High School Kribi accused of practicing witchcraft have been arrested and detained at the Gendarmerie Company in Kribi.

      Questioned by police officers, the said students are reported to have confessed being in contact with mystical Beninese who promised them wealth in exchange for the lives of some of their family members.

      They are accused of selling new born babies to buyers coming essentially from Congo.
