      The President of the Regional Council for the Centre, Gilbert Tsimi Evouna has been commissioned into his functions.

      This was during a ceremony that took place Wednesday at the esplanade of the Centre regional Court of Appeal.

      The former Government Delegate to the Yaounde City Council took the commitment to serve indiscriminately, the people in his area of command and work toward the development of the region.

    • Cameroon: One dies in deadly motor accident in Nkongsamba

      One person is reported to have died in a motor accident that in Ngwa village, in the Nkongsamba III District in the Littoral region of Cameroon.

      The accident which occurred in the night of Monday breaking Tuesday January 12 when a truck belonging to Congelcam carrying planks collided with another one before emptying its load on the road, there by blocking traffic for hours.

      The victim is said to have died on the spot.

    • CHAN 2020: Rwanda’s Amavubi stars in Cameroon

      The Amavubi stars of Rwanda have arrived Cameroon’s economic capital Douala ahead of their fourth participation at the African Nations Football Championship CHAN that kicks off Saturday January 16.

      The team have taken up residence at Hotel la Falaise and will hold their first training session on Cameroonian soil this Wednesday evening.

    • Cameroon: Child accidentally sets house ablaze in Douala

      A little child is reported to have accidentally set their residence in the Bonaberi neighbourhood in Cameroon’s economic capital Douala ablaze Monday January 11.

      According to sources, the child who was playing with matches lit fire on a dress in the wardrobe. The fire burnt the whole wardrobe and almost reduced the house to aches if not for the timely intervention of neighbours.

    • Cameroonian movie, The Fisherman’s Diary selected for The Oscars 2021

      The Cameroonian movie, The Fisherman’s Diary has been selected to represent Cameroon at the 93rd edition of The Oscars.

      The movie was produced by Kang Quintus and directed by Enah Johnscott.

      It is the second Cameroonian movie to be selected by Oscars after “Notre fille” by Daniel Kamwa forty-one years ago.

    • Israel’s Netanyahu, US treasury secretary condemn Capitol violence

      Netanyahu made the comments in Jerusalem alongside Trump’s Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin, who called the storming of the Capitol by pro-Trump rioters “unacceptable”.

      The Israeli premier said the “rampage at the Capitol yesterday was a disgraceful act and it must be vigorously condemned”.

      “I have no doubt that… American democracy will prevail. It always has,” added Netanyahu, who has repeatedly called Trump Israel’s best-ever friend in the White House.

      A thirteen year old boy is reported to have been killed after stray elephants in the Mayo Danai and Mayo Kani Divisions of the Far North region invaded some villages, destroying portions of farmlands and some houses.

      The Rt Rev Bishop Michael Bibi is the new Bishop of the Buea Diocese in the South West region of Cameroon.

      He was appointed Tuesday January 5 by Pope Francis.

      Before today’s appointment, Bishop Bibi served as the Apostolic Administrator of the Buea Diocese.

      In a decree issued Monday January 4, 2021, the Head of State convenes the electoral college of the Division to elect representatives of traditional rulers in the Division on April 4, 2021.

    • Cameroon: Gov’t signs partnership with Chinese company for maintenance of Kribi- Lolabe motorway

      The Government of Cameroon has signed a public-private partnership with the Chinese Company Harbour Engineering Company giving the latter the right to finance, design, construct, exploit and do maintenance works on the 38.5 kilometres Kribi-Lolabe motorway.
      The partnership was signed Wednesday December 30 in Kribi.
      The Ministers of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi and Finance Louis Paul Motaze signed for Cameroon.
      It is the first phase of the Edéa – Kribi – Lolabé motorway which aims at ameliorating the competitiveness of Cameroon’s transport network from the Kribi deep seaport.

    • Cameroon: Dschang Council adopts FCFA three billion as 2021 budget

      The Dschang Council in the West region of Cameroon has adopted the sum of FCFA three billion, one hundred and fifty-one million, three hundred and sixty-nine thousand as the budget for the year 2021.

      The budget was adopted during the Council’s session on December 29.

    • Cameroon/CHAN 2021: Mascot Tara ends national tour

      The official mascot of the African Nations Football Championship CHAN 2021, Tara has ended her national tour of the different cities to host the competition.

      Tara ended her tour yesterday Wednesday December 30 with Buea and Limbe in the South West region.

      She was welcomed by the crowd as she toured the different streets of the two towns.

      The tour which began with Yaounde and later on Douala was aimed at bringing the mascot closer to the population.
