      Dr Mohamadou Dewa of the NUDP of Bello Bouba Magari has been elected to head over the regional council in the Adamawa region of Cameroon.

      He was elected Tuesday December 22 during the election of executive members in the region.

      The Adamawa region is the only administrative unit in the country which is not controlled by the ruling party, CPDM.

      Prof Fru Angwafon is the pioneer President of the Regional Assembly in the North West region of Cameroon.

      He was elected Tuesday December 22 during the inaugural session as of right for the election of executive members.

      He will be assisted by Fon Yakum Kevin Bambalang who iw equally President of the House of Chiefs in the region.

      In a release signed this Monday December 21, the Minister of Finance, Louis Paul Motaze authorizes the payment of the said salary on grounds that the month of December is usually a financially difficult one due to expenses relating to end of year festivities.

    • Cameroon: Paul Biya orders disbursement of FCFA 600M to provide items to IDPs in NW, SW, South, Centre

      The Head of State Paul Biya has ordered the disbursement of FCFA 600 million to provide items to internally displaced people in the North West, South West, South and Centre regions of the country for end of year festivities.

      A ceremony to launch the distribution exercise is being held at the Yaounde City Council under the chair of the Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji.

    • Cameroon: Kumba District hospital receives consignment of health kits

      The Kumba District Hospital in the North West region of Cameroon has received a consignment of health material to boost the provision of health care service to the population of the Kumba town and its environs.

      The kits were given by an association from Atlanta in the US.

      It comprised a medicalized ambulmance, five dialyses machines, twenty-five beds and a dentistry chair among other items.

      Former indomitable lion striker Jacques Zoa is leading the thirty-three-man squad that will represent Cameroon at the African Nations Football Championship that kicks off in January 16.

      The players are currently dotting the Is and cutting the ts at the CAF Excellence Centre in Mbankomo with a number of friendlies scheduled before the competition.

       

    • Cameroon: Gov’t reassures Senior officials leading ongoing clashes in CAR

      Cameroonian Senior officials and staff of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic have been reassured security wise as they lead the ongoing unrest in the country that resulted from clashes between loyalists and rebel groups ahead of CAR’s Presidential and Legislative elections this year.

      The assurance was given by the Governor of the East region during a two-day evaluation meeting that began this Monday December 21 under high instructions of the Head of State.

      He also urged them to be on alert and safeguard the territorial integrity of Cameroon and protect people and their property.

       

    • Cameroon: Two teachers abducted by Boko Haram elements in Far North

      Two teachers are said to have been taken away by elements of the Boko Haram Islamic sect during one of their attacks in a locality called Balwana, Mayo Tsanaga Division of the Far North region of Cameroon Sunday December 20.

      According to a member of the vigilante group, they stormed the locality at about 11pm, drew the attention of both the men and women before calling the names of some teachers and taking two with them.

      Emmanuel Mariel Djikdent is the new Senior Divisional Officer for the Mfoundi in the Centre region of Cameroon.

      According to a decree signed by the Head of State Friday December 18, he replaces late Mfoundi SDO Jean Claude Tsila.

      Before today’s appointment, Emmanuel Mariel was SDO of the Mefou and Afamba still in the Centre region.

      The letter of intent was signed Monday December 14 between the Minister of Finance Louis Paul Motaze and the Director General of the banking institution, Mareme Mbaye.

      The credit will be granted exclusively to the bank’s customers.

      Five members of a family are said to have been set ablaze by a relative at the New Bell Bassa neighbourhood in Douala, Littoral region of Cameroon.

      According to reports, the relative in question, whose name we got as Roger Mbake decided to end the life of his niece and her children following a family dispute over property.

      The five victims include a two-month-old baby, two kids of two and three years old and a young man.
