      Samuel Djobo is the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cameroon to the Republic of Tunisia.

      He was appointed Wednesday December 2 by Presidential decree.

    • Cameroon: National Assembly scrutinizes 2021 activities of Public Health Ministry

      The programme and activities of the Ministry of Public Health for the year 2021 are under review at the National Assembly.

      The programme expected to be implemented with a budgetary allocation of FCFA 197.1 billion is presented before the finance committee by the Minister of Public Health, Dr Malachie Manaouda.

    • Cameroon: Two crushed by truck in Bafang, West region

      Two persons are reported to have lost their lives after they were crushed by a heavy duty truck transporting cement in Bafang, West region of Cameroon.

      The two victims died on the spot.

      The driver of the truck is currently in police custody.

    • Cameroon: Victor Ndocki appointed new Permanent Representative to UN Int’l Centre in Vienna

      Victor Ndocki has been appointed as Cameroon’s new Permanent Representative to the UN International Centre in Vienna, Austrelia.

      He was appointed by Presidential decree signed Tuesday December 1, 2020.

      This follows his November 2 appointment to the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Federal Republic of Germany.

    • Cameroon: Woman arrested over baby theft attempt

      A woman in Bafia, Mbam and inoubou Division in the Centre region of Cameroon is currently under police custody after she was arrested for allegedly attempting to steal a baby in a hospital.

      Reports say the lady attempted o go away with the baby of an 18-year-old girl she had kidnapped before she was arrested.

       

    • Cameroon: Guinness Super League receives assistance from sponsor

      Cameroon’s national women first Division football championship known as Guinness Super League have received assistance from main sponsor, Guinness.

      The assistance which comprised jerseys, sports bags, balls, shorts and equipment meant for goal keepers were distributed to players last Thursday November 26 at the headquarters of the Cameroon Football Federation, FECAFOOT.

      It is intended to boost the performance of the players.

    • New President of Organization of Military Sports in Africa installed

      The new President of the Organization of Military Sports in Africa (OSMA), Nigerian-born Brigadier General Maikano Abdullahi has taken office.

      He was installed into his functions Monday November 30 by Cameroon’s Minister of Defence, Joseph Beti Assomo at the OSMA’s Yaounde Head office.

      He was tasked to use his experience to overcome the challenges faced by the organization.

    • Cameroon: Six die in road accident in Douala

      Six people are reported to have lost their lives in a road accident along the Total Logbaba in Douala II Subdivision, Littoral region of Cameroon.

      The accident occurred during the wee hours of Sunday November 29.

      It involved a Toyota Prado and some commercial motor bikes. The latter who was on high speed is said to have ran into the commercial motor bikes, crushing the riders and others along the road.

    • About 50 Cameroonians repatriated from Algeria

      Some fifty-one Cameroonian nationals without papers in Algeria have been repatriated.

      Their special flight alighted at the Douala International Airport in the Littoral region Monday November 30.

      Upon arrival, they all went through COVID-19 screening to avoid any possible importation.

      Cameroon joins the rest of the international community to commemorate the 33rd edition of the World Aids Day with a cal for people to know their HIV status and protect others around them.

      The day is observed in Cameroon under the theme “How to overcome the fear of HIV screening.”

      In prelude to this day, a number of private and public institutions organized free HIV AIDS screening exercises, distributing HIV and COVID-19 sensitization tools and educated the public on how to prevent and live with HIV.

    • Cameroon: Humanitarian organizations launch program to reunite families separated by crisis

      Humanitarian organizations in Cameroon have launched a program to reunite the increasing number of families separated due to Boko Haram attacks and the Anglophone crisis rocking the two English-speaking regions of the country.

      According to reports, the program was launched after the number of children fleeing from these crisis increased from about 10,000 to 25,000 in major cities within three months.

      Lawyers under the Cameroon Bar Association this Monday November 30 began a five-day nationwide strike against what they described as repeated brutality from security forces on men in robes.

      Announced over a week ago, the Government has remained silent on the case.

    • Cameroon: Deliberations on 2021 finance bill resume today

      Members of the Committee on finance and the budget have resumed deliberations on the 2021 State finance bill.

      The draft law was deposited at the National Assembly last Thursday November 26 by the Minister of Finance Louis Paul Motaze and the economic, finance, social and cultural programme outlined by the Prime Minister Head of Government, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute.

    • Cameroon: Atanga Nji on security visit to Northern regions ahead of regional elections

      The Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji is on a working visit to the three Northern regions of Cameroon to check the security situation ahead of the country’s first ever regional elections slated for December 6 and the end of year feasts.

      This Monday November 30, he presided over a special security and administrative coordinating meeting in Garoua, North region.

      His visit to the North region follows a similar visit to the Far North which witnessed the signature of the Maroua declaration in which hundreds of personalities of the three Northern regions in a motion expressed their total support to the Head of State and condemned all claims of marginalization from Mouvement 10 million de nordistes of Guibai Gatama.

    • Cameroon: Over 60 artistes to be decorated for resilience during COVID-19

      The Minister of Arts and Culture, Bidoung Mkpatt will this Friday November 27 decorate some sixty-three artistes, promoters of culture and cultural journalists for their resilience during the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic.

      The award ceremony will take place at the esplanade at the National Museum and will be presided at by the Prime Minister Head of Government, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute as announced by officials of the Ministry of Culture.

    • Cameroon: PM Dion Ngute inaugurates new General Directorate of Taxation in Yaounde

      The Prime Minister Head of Government, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute has inaugurated the new building of the General Directorate of Taxation which stands still North East of the city centre in Yaounde.

      The inauguration ceremony took place Friday November 27 in the presence of other Government members, including the Minister of Finaance, Louis Paul Motaze who presented the structure after it was unveiled.

      The building cost the Government about FCFA 22 billion.

       

    • Cameroon: Bills on settlement, police cooperation tabled at Senate

      The settlement bill for the 2019 financial year, the police cooperation agreement between Central African States and the air services agreement between Cameroon and the United Arab Emirates have been tabled at the Senate for scrutiny.

      The bills were tabled Wednesday November 26 during a plenary sitting chaired by the Senior Vice President of the Senate.

      The first gives a detailed overview of Government’s spending as per income and expenditure.

      The second authorizes the Head of State to ratify the criminal police cooperation agreement between Central African States signed on September 18,2015.

    • Cameroon: Gov’t wants private partners involved in construction of motorways

      The Prime Minister Head of Government, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute has recommended the finalization process of the recruitment of private sector partners to accelerate the construction of motorways in Cameroon’s cities including Yaounde-Douala and Edea-Kribi roads.

      He was speaking Thursday November 26 while chairing the November Cabinet meeting through video conference.

    • Cameroon: MPs begin scrutinizing 2021 State budget today

      The Budget and Finance Committee of the National Assembly will begin scrutinizing the 2021 State budget draft law deposited by the Government Wednesday November 25.

      The budget stands at FCFA 4,865 billion.

      While detailing the areas where the budget will be allocated at the National Assembly, the Prime Minister said it will be executed depending on the evolution of the Coronavirus pandemic.

    • Cameroon: Mgr Samuel Kleda receives award for COVID-19 medecine

      The Archbishop of the Metropolitan Diocese of Douala in the Littoral region of Cameroon has received an award for discovering a traditional remedy to the deadly Coronavirus pandemic and thus contributing to the relief of infected persons.

      The award dubbed “Prix special de l’Excellence Sanitaire Mondiale” was given to him by the Cameroon Consumer’s National Network in a brief ceremony in front of the conference hall of the Douala archdiocese.

       

       

    • Cameroon: PM Dion Ngute insists execution of Gov’t’s 2021 programme will depend on evolution of COVID-19

      The Prime Minister Head of Government has reiterated that the execution of Government’s programme for the year 2021 will depend on the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic.

      He mentioned this during the November Cabinet meeting that held Thursday November 26.

      During this meeting, the Prime Minister once again presented the programme of the 2021 financial year to Government Ministers to be realized with FCFA 4,865 billion.

      The Prime Minister Head of Government, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute has unveiled Government’s financial, economic, social and cultural programme.

      This was during a special plenary sitting at the National Assembly Wednesday November 25.

      It comprises among others the construction of some symbolic roads and artwork as well as the rehabilitation of others, the rehabilitation of Sonara, the continuation of the special plan for the reconstruction and development of the crisis-hit North West and South West regions.

      At least two persons are reported to have died in a road accident that occurred around Airport Tunnel in Douala, Littoral region of Cameroon.
      Reports say one of the vehicles involved was transporting gas bottles.

      The now former president of the Confederaration of African Football, CAF, Ahmad Ahmad is expected to appeal the five-year ban from all football activities slammed on him by the world football governing body FIFA Monday November 23 over corruption charges.

    • Cameroon/December 6 election: First installment of campaign funds available

      The Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji has informed political parties participating in the December 6 regional election that campaign funds are already available.

      In a release signed Monday November 23, the Territorial Administration boss calls on representatives of these participating political parties to come over and collect the first installment.

      He adds in the release that the second installment with be made available after the publication of results and shall be proportionate to the number of seats obtained.

    • Cameroon: Gov’t launches campaign to de-worm children of school-going age

      The Minister of Public Health, Dr Malachi Manaouda and his counterpart of Basic Education, Serge Etoundi Ngoa have launched the 2020 national campaign to de-worm children of school-going age.
      The ceremony took place this Tuesday at the Government School Ayos in the Centre region.
      Statistics from Count Down Cameroon show more than 10million Cameroonians suffer from intestinal worms with school-aged children being the most affected and most vulnerable group.
