      The CEO of Laarry Newsroom was reportedly abducted Tuesday March 17 under unclear circumstances in Bamenda, North West region of Cameroon.

      The Minister of Public health has confirmed the country has recorded an additional coronavirus case, bringing the number to fourteen.

      Dr Malachie Manaouda gave the information yesterday evening as he was guest on the 8:30pm news.

      The Minister of Public Health, Dr Malachie Manaouda has confirmed Cameroon has recorded three other Coronavirus cases, bringing the number of infected persons to thirteen.

      He disclosed the information in press conference granted this Wednesday March 18.

      Sources say little is known on the circumstances surrounding his abduction as family say they’ve not heard from him since yesterday, Tuesday March 17, 2020.

       

    • Cameroon/Covid-19: Littoral Governor supervises quarantine exercise at DIA

      The Governor of the Littoral region region of Cameroon, Samuel Dieudonne Ivaha Diboua has personally supervised the first quarantine exercise of passengers who arrived Cameroon at the Douala International Airport last night.

      The quarantine exercise instructions came from the Minister Delegate, Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh who by the same occasion asked the Governor to requisition a number of hotels to accommodate these passengers for fourteen days after which they will be tested.

      Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril has been reelected President of the National Assembly.

      The eighty-year old man who has occupied that post since 1992 was overwhermingly voted as Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament yesterday at the National Assembly.

    • CHAN 2020: Competition postponed due to Coronavirus

      The 2020 African Nation’s Championship will not hold from April 4 2020 as initially scheduled due to Coronavirus fears.

      The information was disclosed this Tuesday afternoon after a meeting with members of the Local organising committee of the CHAN 2020 and officials of the Confederation of African Football CAF.

    • CHAN 2020: COCAN suggests CAF postpones competition over Coronavirus fears

      The local organising committee of the 2020 African Nation’s Championship CHAN led by its President, Prof Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, Cameroon’s Sports and Physical education Minister has suggested to the Confederation of African Football CAF that the competition be postponed due to Coronavirus fears.

      Sources from the organising committee say a new date will be announced very soon.

      Close to two weeks after Cameroon confirms Coronavirus cases, the Head of State Paul Biya take to favourite social media platform, twitter to urge his compatriots to observe the recommended hygiene rules so as to limit the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

       

    • Cameroon: First two Coronavirus patients healed

      In a tweet posted yesterday, CRTV web indicated that according to a source from the Health Ministry, the first two patients to test positive with the COVID-19 pandemic have been cured and are now under medical observance for a determined period after which they will be discharged.

      Both of them were isolated at the Yaounde Central Hospital Friday March 6, 2020 after testing positive with the virus.

    • Cameroon: Ngaoundere bikers clash with security forces

      Bike riders in Ngaoundere, Adamawa region of Cameroon have clashed with security forces in that part of the country.

      Sources say they are protesting an administrative order banning circulation of commercial motorbikes from 6pm daily.

      Yesterday Sunday,day that the decision went into force, sources say over 500 bikes were seized by angry law enforcement officers.

      The bikers were teargased by anti-riot police officers, sources have confirmed.

    • Cameroon to host 2020 African Champions League final

      Cameroon will host the final of the 2020 season of the African Champions League.

      According to a communique from the Confederation of African Football, the final will be played on May 29 at the Japoma Stadium in Douala.

      The one hundred and sixty-seven newly elected members of parliament get their full attribute today offficially confering on them powers of members of Parliament of the Republic of Cameroon.

      According to a communique from Public Health Minister Malachie Manaouda, it is Cameroonian lady who came from France on March 2, and was descovered on March 7.

      Newly elected members of the National Assembly will have their files verified today to check out for cases of incompatibilities of their parliamentary function.

      The verification will be done by members of six verification boards set up by the National Assembly. Each board is composed of not more than thirty members and they will all submit their findings to the House within five days.

      This is in the course of the 10th Legislature that begun yesterday in Yaounde, chaired by the eldest member of the National Assembly, Hon. Laurentine Koa.

      The copper bullets qualify on the away goal rule after a 3-2 defeat in Yaounde during the first leg last Thursday.

      The National Council for the approval of text books and didatic materials has begun evaluating some one hundred and sixty-eight text books for the Lower and Upper sixth classes of the English sub-system of education and that of Premiere in the French Sub-system of education.

      Newly elected members of Cameroon’s National Assembly begin meeting in a Statutory Session this Tuesday March 10 in Yaounde.

      According to reports, chairing the deliberations scheduled to begin at 11am at the Ngoa-Ekele Glass House in Yaounde will be a provisional bureau composed of the eldest and two youngest members of the Lower House.

      The Sesssion to last for a maximum of five days will be devoted to the verification of parliamentary incompatibility, the election of the House Speaker and the handing over of attributes to the newly elected members of the house.
