Cameroon: Gang of six specialized in burglary, sale of hard drugs in Douala V arrested
- 17h40A gang of six aged between 21 and 37 specialized in burgary and the sale of hard drugs in Ndogbong, a neighborhood in Douala V in the Littoral region have fallen into the dragnet of police.
They were presented to the press alongside their stolen items including phones, a laptop and a TV flat screen plus Indian hem this Monday July 12.

Cameroon among 10 countries most affected by malaria- WHO
- 17h28The 2020 report of the World Health Organization on the situation of Malaria indicates that Cameroon is among the ten countries most affected by the mosquito-borne infectious disease.
According to this report, 6,291,256 persons suffered from malaria in 2019 and out of them, 11,233 died.
These figures were disclosed at the launch of the National Task Force of the National Malaria Control Program (NMCP)to step up the fight against malaria in Cameoron.

Cameroon: Vaccination will help resist imminent COVID-19 third wave-Dr Malachie Manaouda
- 15h22The Minister of Public Health, Dr Malachie Manaouda has encouraged Cameroonians to adhere to the ongoing extended national intensive COVID-19 vaccination operation indicating it is the sure way out of an imminent third wave of the virus come November.
He was speaking at the end of a consultation meeting on Government’s COVID-19 response at the Ministry of Public Health this Monday July 12 that gathered members of the scientific committee of the Extended Immunization Programme, those from Professional orders and the Parliament to discuss best methods of administering the vaccines.

Cameroon: Gov’t extends intensive national anti-COVID-19 vaccination campaign
- 13h04The five-day intensive national vaccination campaign against the COVID-19 pandemic initially planned to run from the 7 to the 11th of July has been extended to July 16.
According to a press release signed by the Minister of Public Health, Dr Malachie Manaouda, the campaign to get a many Cameroonians as possible vaccinated to not yield the expected goals.

Cameroon: Okie Johnson re-elected National President of Catholic Men Association
- 12h01The Director General of the Hydrocarbon Prices Stabilization Fund (CSPII), Okie Johnson has been re-elected National President of the Catholic Men Association (CMA).
He was re-elected during the 6th national executive congress of the association at the Yaounde Multi-purpose Sports Complex Saturday July 10.
During this congress, the new executive bureau was equally installed by the Apostolic Noncio to Cameoron and Equatorial Guniea, Julio Murat with a call to unite and advocate for peace.

Cameroon: Two Boko Haram fighters killed in counter attack in Fima, Far North
- 17h36Elements of the Cameroonian army this Friday July 9 pushed back an attack by Boko Haram fighters in the locality of Fima in the Far North region of Cameroon.
Reports say during the counter attack, two terrorists were neutralized and some of their ammunition recovered.

2020 Tokyo Olympics to be played indoors
- 17h29The 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games will be played without spectators as the world continue to grapple with the deadly COVID-19 pandemic and the Asian host country in particular.
Cameroon is represented by 12 athletes who have already begun preparing in Japan.
The competition kicks off on the 23rd of July.

TB Joshua buried in Lagos
- 17h08Renowned televangelist, Prophet TB Joshua has been buried in Lagos, Nigeria.
The controversial man of God who claimed prayers could cure HIV AIDS and founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) was laid to rest this Friday, following a week-long series of activities organized to celebrate his life and legacy.
He died on the 5th of June.
His wife, Evelyn Joshua has been named General Overseer of the SCOAN.

Cameroon: Cocoa/coffee dev’t fund launched
- 16h45A fund to help producers of cocoa and coffee develop their inputs was launched in Yaounde Thursday July 8.
The aim of the fund is to step up the annual production of the cash crops and improve on the livelihoods of stakeholders.

Cameroon: Late Prof Gervais Mendo Ze’s miss appropriation of funds convictions annulled
- 14h47The Supreme Court has acquitted the former boss of the Cameroon Radio Television, late Prof Gervais Mendo Ze of all charges levied against him.
Before his demise, the Prof was serving a 20-years jail term at the Yaounde Kondengui Maximum Security Prison for miss appropriation funds estimated at FCFA 1.8 billion.
He died on April 9.

Cameroon: Kidnapped Baforkum Fon found dead
- 12h08The body of of the Fon of Bafurkum, a village around IRAD Bambui in the restive North West region, kidnapped by unidentified armed men few weeks agohas been discovered in the village.
Sources say the body was dropped Thursday July 8 at about 8am. Villagers say heavy gunshots were heard that same day till this Friday morning.

Cameroon: North West Public Independent Conciliator sworn in
- 09h41The Public Independent Conciliator for the North West region, Simon Tamfuh Fai has taken the oath of office.
He was sworn in Thursday July 8 at the Court of Appeal in Bamenda.
The 66-year-old retired in petroleum Geology was appointed on June 10 by Presidential decree to serve a six year non-renewable mandate.

Cameroon: Bunec offers 24 bikes to nine Councils in Maroua
- 12h22The National Civil Status Registration has offered 24 bikes to nine Councils in Maroua to ease the movement of officials charged with establishing birth certificates in the Far North region and thus ameliorate civil status registration statistics.
The bikes were handed over to the Councils last June 25 by the Director General of Bunec, Marie Yomo.
They were obtained thanks to the UN Development Programme which acquired funds from the Japanese Government to purchase them.

Cameroon: Over 1,000 of English expression register for ENAM entrance exam
- 12h05Over 1,000 candidates of English expression have registered for this year’s session of exams into the National School of Administration and Magistracy ENAM.
The figure was revealed last month during a meeting of the Ad hoc Commission tasked with controlling the intake of Courts Registrars and Pupil Magistrates of English expression under the chair of the Minister of Public Service and Administrative Reform, Joseph Le.
The exam is slated for next month.

Cameroon: Locally made products on display at 7th edition of SIALY
- 10h41The seventh edition of the Yaounde International Agribusiness Fair dubbed SIALY is underway with about 300 exhibitors displaying their latest innovations in agribusiness.
The exhibition fair was launched by the Minister of Mines, Industry and Technological Development, Gabriel Dodo Ndoke Wednesday July 7 with a call on participants to establish contacts which will help them accelerate the industrialization process in Cameroon.
The fair will run till July 11.

Cameroon: House Speaker calls for national cohesion against COVID-19

Cavaye Yeguie Djibril has called on Cameroonians who are not yet vaccinated against the deadly COVID-19 pandemic to respond favorably to the new campaign launched Wednesday July 7 for a COVID-19 free Cameroon ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations the country will be hosting come January 2022.
The House Speaker was speaking at the closing ceremony of the June ordinary session of Parliament that saw the adoption of seven bills.

On the occasion of his 80th birthday, the strong man of the Social Democratic Front was described by admirers within and without the party as a living legend of Cameroonian politics full of courage, determination and vision.
Ni John Fru Ndi became famous in 1990 when he founded the SDF considered as Cameroon’s leading opposition party.

Cameroon: Intensive mass anti-COVID-19 vaccination campaign enters day-two
- 09h24The five-day mass vaccination campaign against the Covid-19 pandemic launched Wednesday July 7 nationwide enters day two this Thursday.
Reports hold that vaccination was effective in some of the 244 centres established across the national territory.
In Ebolowa, inmates of the Central Prison began taken the jabs, about 10 persons are said to have taken the AstraZeneca vaccine at the Tiko District, vaccination was equally effective at the Djoungolo District hospital in Yaounde.
The Government intends to vaccinate some 200,000 Cameroonians with this intensive campaign.

Cameroon: Prisoners of Ebolowa Central Prison take first jab of COVID-19 vaccine
- 18h22Prisoners of the Ebolowa Central Prison in the East region of Cameroon have received the first doses of anti-COVID19 vaccines.
They began taking the jab this Wednesday July 7 that marked day-one of the intensive COVID-19 vaccination campaign.
The inoculation exercise took place in the presence of the the East regional Governor, Felix Nguele Nguele.

Cameroon: New Mayor of Njombe Penja officially takes office

Cameroon: Houses flooded in Loum following heavy rains
- 11h05The population of Loum, Moungo Division of the Littoral region have expressed discontent with the poor drainage system in the area which has led to flooding following heavy rains.
Reports say runoff broke through the gutters and got into their homes, destroying property.
The Mayor of Loum, Pascal Zoua who visited the place to ascertain the damage caused by the rains has promised to compensate the victims.

Cameroon: Kidnapped Christians of Pentecostal church in Limbe released
- 10h59A pastor and two Christians of a Pentecostal Church in Limbe, Fako Division of the restive South West region of Cameroon recently kidnapped by unidentified gunmen have been released.
According to the main Pastor of the church, the Christians were taken away due to a land dispute issue.
Ransom was demanded for their release but finally, nothing was given.

Cameroon: 85-year-old woman dies following alleged gang-rape
- 10h52An 85-year-old woman in Ombessa, a locality in the Mbam and Inoubou Division of the Centre region is reported to have died after she was victim of a gang-rape.
Reports say the victim was raped on her way to her farm to harvest crops.
