      The first ordinary session of the National Decentralisation board of the year 2020 takes place this Tuesday January 21, 2020 in Yaounde.

      The session will be presided over by the Prime Minister Head of Government Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute.

    • CHAN 2020/AFCON 2021: Sports Minister in Douala to inspect hosting infrastructures

      The Minister of Sports and Physical education, Prof Narcisse Mouelle Kombi who doubles as the President of the organising coimmittee of the 2020 African Nation’s Championship and the 2021 African Cup of Nations is in Douala, Littoral region of Cameroon where he is expected to inspect hosting infrastructures.

      From Douala, Prof Narcisse Mouelle Kombi will respectively move to Limbe and Buea for the same exercise.

      This working visit comes few days after the Confederation of African Football CAF changed the date for the AFCON and confirmed its holding in Cameroon.

    • Cameroon: Gang of five suspected of fabricating fake licence arrested in Douala

      A gang of five individuals suspected of fabricated fake licence in Cameroon’s Littoral region have been arrested by elements of the Littoral Gendarmerie.

      They five men though clamouring their innocence were presented to the press Monday January 20, 2020.

    • Cameroon: Seven die in collapse of bridge in Littoral region

      Some seven persons are said to have lost their lives and many others injured in the Massock Subdivision in the Sanaga Maratime Division of the Littoral region following the collapse of a bridge Sunday January 19, 2020.

      The is said to have given way after a truch carrying forest guards and some other inhabitants of the locality was reportedly crossing to a nearby village.

    • Cameroon: Health boss instructs administrative investigation into death of CRM lawyer

      The Minister of Public Health, Prof Malachie Manaouda has ordered for and administrative investigation to be carried out following the sudden death of Barrister Syvain Suoup, lead lawyer of the Cameroon Renaissance Mouvement party.

      Barrister Sylvain Souop died Friday, January 17, 2020 as he was about undergoing a surgery following an accident he had in the West region that led to a fracture of his hand.

      He died in Yaounde.

    • 2020 Tokyo Olympics: Cameroon male handball team misses out qualification ticket

      Cameroon’s male handball team have recorded a second victory at the ongoing 2020 Handball African cup of Nations in Tunis, Tunisia.

      They were defeated by host country Tunisia 21 against 41.

      With this second defeat after a first one against Cape Verte last Friday, Cameroon’s male handball team have seen their chances to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics as well as the World handball cup reduced to zero.

      Jack Ekwe Kingue, former Equinoxe Radio Television reporter reportedly died in Limbe, South West region of Cameroon following a throat surgery.

      Before his demise, he was the Communication Director at Biaka Institute in Buea. He equally worked at CRTV Mount Cameroon FM in Buea and Fini hotel in Limbe.

    • Cameroon: CRM defence lawyer Sylvain Souop passes away

      Barrister Sylvain Souop of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement party has just died in Yaounde, officials from the party have confirmed.

      He died this Thursday January 16, 2020 at the Emmergency ward of the Yaounde Central Hospital where he was about undergoing a surgery on his fractured arm.

      He was one of the Barristers who particularly distinguished himself during the 2018 post-electoral hearings where he was the lead defence council of lawyers who defended Prof Maurice Kamto, National President of Cameroon Renaissance Movement at the Constitutional Council

    • Cameroon: Student chops off school mate’s finger in Obala

      A student at Government Bilingual High School Obala yestareday chopped off the finger of his school mate.

      According to sources, the victim has explained that they were playing football and he mistakenly smashed the legs of his aggressor who got angry, took a machete and wanted to cut off the head of his mate. He blocked the machete with his hands but his left thumb fell off.

    • Cameroon: National colloquium on modernisation of public service ends with 10 resolutions adopted

      The three-day national colloquium on the modernisation of public service that brought together University dons, members of the civil society, officials from other Ministries and State owned Institutions ended yesterday in Yaounde with some ten recommendations arrived at.

      Some of these recommendations include the revamping of the Higher Council of the Public service, the acquisition of modern tools and the promotion of integrity.

      Members of the National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism are presently meeting in yaounde in their first ordinary session for the year 2020.

      The fifteen-member commission whose missions are amongst others the promotion of bilingualism and multiculturalism will be celebrating from eight days to come the third anniverssary of the commission since its creation on the 23rd of January 2017 by the Head of State.

    • 2020 CHAN/2021 AFCON: CAF boss to hold meeting with members of local organising committee

      The President of the Confederation of African Football Ahmad Ahmad who is on a three-day working visit to Cameroon will this Wednesday hold a meeting with CAF officials as well as members of the local organising committee of the 2020 African Nations Championship and the 2021 African Cup of Nations in Yaounde.

      Later this evening, Ahmad Ahmad will take part in a gala night where some visuals of the 2020 African Nations Championship will be unveiled.

      Yesterday, he was received in audience by the Prime Minister Head of Government Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute where he disclosed he came to see how far Cameroon’s Government is committed to the hosting of these two competitions and hinted that other issues will be handed by technicians.

      The Minister of Territorial administration Paul Atanga Nji has sent danger signals to all those who will try to hinder Cameroonians from undergoing their civic duty of voting during the February nine Legislative and Municipal elections.

      Minister Paul Atanga Nji was speaking yesterday in Yaounde at the first bi-annual conference of Governors of the ten regions of Cameroon.

      He disclosed that one could decide not to vote and stay quiet. On the other hand, he said that what will not be tolerated is deciding not to vote and trying to induce other Cameroonians not to vote as well.
