Cameroon: Intensive five-day COVID-19 vaccination campaign kicks off today
- 08h22An intensive vaccination campaign against the deadly COVID-19 pandemic kicks off this Wednesday July 7 nationwide.
More than 360,000 doses of the Aztrazeneca and Sinopharm vaccines are available for the exercise.
It is expected to run for five days with the target being people aged 18 and above.

Cameroon: SW Public Independent Conciliator officially takes office
- 18h35The recently appointed pioneer Public Independent Conciliator for the South West region, Dorothy Telelen Atabong has been commissioned into her functions.
The 61-year-old took the oath of office this Tuesday July 6 during a solemn ceremony in the South West region.
She has promised to go for the open door policy.

Cameroon: Gov’t says civilian gunned down by soldiers in Bamenda was diaspora Amba leaders local relay
- 17h49The Ministry of Defence has finally reacted to the killing of an individual identified as Djibril Dubila last Sunday July 4 by soldiers in front of a police check point in Below Foncha in Bamenda III, Mezam Division of the restive North West region.
In a statement issued Tuesday July 6, the Ministry’s spokesperson, Col Cyrille Atonfack says the victim was a local relay for certain secessionist terrorist leaders of the diaspora in the Nkwen sector, Bamenda III.

Cameroon: Civic and patriotic holiday campaign kicks off today

Cameroon: Three journalists slammed suspension sentences for unethical practices
- 09h02The Joe Chebonkeng era has begun at the National Communication Council NCC with suspension sentences slammed on journalists for unprofessional and unethical practices.
During the regulatory body’s 28th General Assembly, the first for the new team led by ace journalist Joe Chebonkeng, the members deliberated on some cases yet to be deliberated upon by the outgoing team.
At the end of deliberations, three journalists were slammed between one to six months suspension, including Sismondi Bidjoka, Director of Publication of RIS radio who was slammed a one month suspension in the case pitting him and honourable CABRAL LIBII.

Cameroon: Yaounde Conference Centre fit to host 2021 AFCON draw ceremony
- 08h40A delegation from the Confederation of African Football, CAF on a working visit at the Yaounde Conference Centre earmarked to host the draw ceremony of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations Monday July 5 described the structure as more than fit for the event.
The draw ceremony is expected to take place next month.

2021 Tokyo Olympics: Team Cameroon in Japan ahead of kick off

Cameroon: New NCC boss outlines agenda of mandate

He was appointed to lead the media regulating body last June 4 by Presidential decree.

CRTV - 15h13The Director General of the company distributing energy in Cameroon ENEO, Eric Mansuy has indicated that the company lost over FCFA 60 billion due yearly to fraudulent connections in the country.

Duchess of Cambridge forced to self-isolate after Covid-19 contact
CNN - 13h19The Duchess of Cambridge is self-isolating after coming into contact with someone who has since tested positive for Covid-19, a spokesperson for Kensington Palace told CNN on Monday.
“Her Royal Highness is not experiencing any symptoms, but is following all relevant government guidelines and is self-isolating at home,” the spokesperson said.Kate will not attend Monday’s engagements, the spokesperson added. She was alerted on Friday afternoon and began isolating then. -
Cameroon: Wes Madiko laid to rest in France
- 12h36Cameroonian born and author of the success tube Alane, Wes Madiko also known as the king of the world music has been laid to rest in Alanson, France where he spent his last years.
He died on the 26th of July in a clinic in Paris after succumbing to ill health.

Cameroon: MPs debate on issues relating to land ownership this Monday
- 11h31Issues relating to land ownership in Cameroon are at the centre of a special plenary sitting currently ongoing at the National Assembly.
Addressing Members of Parliament on the matter, the Minister of State Property, Surveys and Land Tenure Henry Eyebe Aysissi said land disputes represent more than 80% of court cases in the country, meanwhile access to land is made open to all Cameroonians no matter their ethnicity, religion and gender.

Cameroon: Suspected Amba figheters kill GCE examiner, Nigerian woman in restive Anglophone region
- 11h22Suspected Ambazonia fighters are reported to have gun down a GCE examiner by name Fuh Max Dang on Thursday July 1 and a Nigerian woman the following day in the Meme Division of the restive South West region of Cameroon.
Reports say the suspected murders stormed the house of the GCE examiner on that faithful Thursday, tortured him before killing him in the presence of his family.
As for the Nigerian woman, she was shot dead in a bus on her way to her country.

Cameroon: Achidi Achu gets farewell from thousands in Santa
- 11h13The former Prime Minister, Simon Achidi Achu was lid to rest Saturday June 3 in Santa, Mezam Division of the North West region of Cameroon during a funeral decree by the Head of State.
Thousands from all walks of life turned out at the Santa Grand Stand where the body of the fallen Statesman was laid to pay their last respect amid tight security.
The Head of State was represented by the Prime Minister Head of Government, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute who raised the political icon to the dignity of Grand Cordon of the Cameroonian Merit.
Simon Achid Achu who served as Cameroon’s pioneer Anglophone Prime Minister from 1992 to 1996 died on May 4 in the United States of America at the age of 87 after succumbing to ill health.

Cameroon: First ever International Music Festival to hold in November
- 11h07The first edition of the Cameroon International Music Festival dubbed CIMFEST is due to hold from the 24th to the 27th of November this year.
The award ceremony will take place on the last day, November 27.
CIM FEST is an initiative nursed by the Cameroon International Film Festival (CAMIFF) team to re-energize the Cameroon music industry which has been witnessing major changes but decimal growth.
Ahead of the grand event, the CIMFEST team together with Askia and DrSley had their first press conference on June 23 2o in Buea.

Cameroon: Over 300 teachers flee restive Anglophone regions for pastures
- 14h37More than 300 secondary school teachers in the restive North West and South West regions of Cameroon are said to have abandoned their duty posts and are residing out of the country.
The information was made known by the Minister of Secondary Education, Prof Pauline Nalova Lyonga in a release summoning the escapee teachers to report to the Ministry or face disciplinary sanctions.

Cameroon: Gov’t summons 600 absentee secondary school teachers residing abroad
- 10h46The Government of Cameroon has summoned 600 secondary school teachers absent from their duty post some of whom are allegedly residing abroad.
According to a release signed by the Minister of Secondary Education, Prof Nalova Lyonga, the 600 teachers are currently in other African countries, Europe, the Americas and other parts of the globe.
The crisis-hit North West region records the highest number of escapee teachers, 264 out of the 600.

Cameroon: Achidi Achu begins final journey
- 16h19The remains of Cameroon’s pioneer Anglophone Prime Minister, Simon Achidi Achu who died last May 4 in the United States of America have been coffined at the Yaounde General Hospital.
The coffining ceremony was attended by a host of State personalities including the Prime Minister Head of Government, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute, family and friends of the deceased State man.
He will be laid to rest Saturday July 3 in his native Santa, in the North West region during official funeral decreed by the Head of State.

Cameroon: Commercial biker dies in road accident in Mbouda, West region

According to reports, the victim crashed on a private vehicle parked along the street and died on the spot.
