Cameroon: PM hands over flag to bearer of 2021 Toyko Olympic Games
- 13h49The Prime Minister, Head of Government, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute will this Thursday July 1 hand over the country’s flag to the standard bearer of the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games, Emiliene Essombe Tiako.
The handing over ceremony will take place at headquarters of Cameroons National Olympic and Sports Committee in Yaounde.
The country will be represented by 12 athletes across seven disciplines.

CAF Deputy Secretary General, Anthony Baffoe resigns six months to AFCON 2021
- 12h44The Deputy Secretary General of the Confederation of African Football, CAF, Anthony Baffoe has resigned.
The Ghanaian who held that post since 2017 announced he was leaving the continental football body yesterday Wednesday June 30.
This resignation of the CAF scribe comes six months to the holding of the 2021 edition of the Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted by Cameroon.

Cameroon: Douala-Yaounde Express Train re-launched
- 11h52The Douala-Yaounde-Douala Express Train transit has been re-launched.
The inaugural journey took place early this Thursday morning with the train leaving Douala for Yaounde.
The train has modern and comfortable seats and sockets to charge electrical appliances.
It is expected to operate daily shuttles between Douala and Yaounde with five intermediate stops at Edea, Messondo, Eseka, Malak and Ngoumou.

Cameroon: New biometric passports production goes operational
- 11h45The production of Cameroon’s new biometric passports has gone operational at the National Center for the Production of Passports in Yaounde
The digital system announced weeks ago will permit applicants get their passports in 48hours at a cost of FCFA 110,000.
Cameroonians have already flooded the center and are going through the process to acquire their passports.

Cameroon: Global Fund pledges FCFA 164B to combat AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria
- 17h09The Government of Cameroon and the Global Fund have signed and agreement for the funding of AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria to the tune of FCFA 164 billion for a period running from 2021 to 2023.
The agreement was signed Wednesday June 30 between during a ceremony to launch the new funding mechanism of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria in Yaounde.

Cameroon: Cerac donates medical kits to sickle cell patients in Mfou
- 15h33The Circle of Friends of Cameroon better known in its French acronym, Cerac has donated medical kits to patients suffering from sickle cell anemia at the Mfou District Hospital in the Centre region in support for therapeutic education for children affected by the disease days after the international community observed the World Sickle Cell Day.
The delegation of the association founded by Cameroon’s First Lady, Chantal Biya equally sensitized the population of Mfou on the illness and how to prevent it.

Cameroon: GCE 2021 records 10.59% increase in participation in Anglophone regions
- 14h44The 2021 session of the GCE official exams that began Tuesday June 29 nationwide is said to have witnessed a 10.59% increase in participation in the two English speaking regions hit by an over four years long conflict as compared to last year.
According to statistics, the Ordinary level registered a total number of 93 637 candidates, the Advanced level 55 579 for the General Education and the Technical Vocational Education, 13 262 are in for intermediate level and 7 997 for the Advanced level making a total of 170 475 candidates sitting for this year’s official exams against 157 149 last year.

Cameroon: Handball lionesses to receive medals for performance at 2021 AFCON
- 14h13The president of the Republic, Paul Biya has instructed that players and members of staff of Cameroon’s women handball team be awarded distinctions for their performance at the just ended 2021 Senior Women’s Handball African Cup of Nation.
These distinctions will be given this Wednesday June 30 at the Multipurpose Sports Complex during a ceremony to be chaired by the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Prof Narcisse Mouelle kombi.

Cameroon: New funding mechanism of GFATM to be launched in Yaounde
- 12h31A ceremony to launch the new funding mechanism of the Global Fund for the Fight against AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM) will take place this Wednesday in Yaounde.
The ceremony will be chaired by the Prime Minister Head of Government, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute, on instructions of the Head of State.
The GFATM is a 21st-century partnership organization designed to accelerate the end of AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria as epidemics.

Cameroon: One trapped under debris as seven storey building collapses in Douala
- 09h49One person is reported missing following the collapse of a seven storey building under construction belonging to the ACMAR MEDIA GROUP in Douala.
According to a release issued by the company this Wednesday, the incident occurred early today at about 4am.
Preliminary investigations reveal that one person is trapped under the debris and another who sustained injuries has been taken to the hospital where he is responding to treatment.
The causes of the incident are not yet known.

Cameroon: Gov’t boosts security at border with CAR with new BIR post
- 18h37A border police post of the Rapid Intervention Battalion, BIR has been constructed in Zamboi, a locality in Cameroon’s border town to the Central African Republic, Garoua Boulai, in the East region was inaugurated last Friday.
The BIR post will help boost security at the Cameroon-CAR border.

Cameroon: Handball lionesses to be awarded medals for outstanding performance at 2021 AFCON
- 15h30Cameroon’s handball indomitable lionesses, finalists of the just ended 2021 Senior Women’s Handball Africa Cup of Nations played in Yaounde will tomorrow Wednesday June 30 be awarded exceptional medals as recognition from the Head of State for their outstanding performance at the competition.
The medals will be handed over to the lionesses and the whole staff during a ceremony at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex.

Cameroon: Joe Chebonkeng tasked to fight against hate speech, propagation of fake news

Cameroon: over 1000 families rendered homeless in Douala

Cameroon: 15 thousand liters of contraband gasol, diesel confiscated in Daouala
- 15h13A late night operation Last Friday June 25 at Essengue, a neirborhood in Douala by elements of the gendarmerie led to the seizure of 15 thousand liters of gasol and diesel.
The two Lorries transporting these petroleum products were caught in an illegal business and eight persons were arrested.

Cameroon regains Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative membership
- 12h15Cameroon has regained membership of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative three months after it was suspended for not presenting a report on extractive activities as demanded by the Initiative.
The country was readmitted after it made moves to respond to the queries that had led to its being temporally suspended.
The said report will be presented to Members of Parliament this Monday by the Minister of Water and Energy, Gabriel Dodo Ndoke during a special plenary sitting.
