CDC dismisses privatisation allegations

The Cameroon Development Coporation, CDC has not been privatised contrary to claims, the General Manager of the corporation Franklin Ngoni Njie has said.

In a communiqué signed on July 2, the Franklin Njie made it clear that claims of privatisation of the corporation are all false and unfounded.

“The General Manager of the Cameroon Development Corporation, CDC, wishes to inform the general public that, contrary to information cir- culating on social media about the alleged privatisation and sale of the CDC, there is no such thing” , Franklin Njie said in a release.

The General Manager stated that four areas have rather been identified by the government to restructure the corporation namely; Technical, Financial, Institutional, and Organisational.

Rumours of the privatisation of the Cameroon Development Corporation first emerged last week after the Minister of Agriculture Henri Eyebe Ayissi announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with three foreign companies to restructure the corporation.

“The CDC is a public company and second largest employer after the government. It is for this reason that the Prime Minister and Head of Government instructed us to assist this company in four fields namely: acquisition of good fertilizers, renewal of plantations, construction of new factories and mills as well as supply of heavy equipment,”the Minister said at the time of the signing.
