The President of the Republic of Chad, Idriss Deby Itno who died Tuesday April 20 from injuries sustained at war front has begun his final journey.
The remains of the field marshal were coffined this Friday April 23 and are currently displayed at the Place de la nation in Ndjamena where an official funeral ceremony is held in his honor.
Present at this ceremony are a host of Head of States and Governments, including French President Emmanuel Macron and other State dignitaries.
President Paul Biya is represented at this funeral ceremony by the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in Charge of Defence, Joseph Beti Assomo.
Chad’s personalities have been mounting the rostrum to pay a last respect to their late Head of State, field marshal Idriss Deby Itno who died standing.
Idriss Deby Itno served as Chad’s Head of State for 30 years and was about to begin a 6th mandate, were it not for his sudden death.
He has been succeeded by his son, General Mahamat Idriss Deby who assures interim as President of the Military Council that was set up.
