Chinese investments in Mozambique hit $6 billion

The Chinese Embassy in Maputo says its country’s investment in Mozambique has been growing at a very fast pace and in cumulative terms is approaching $6 billion.A Chinese embassy statement to APA on Monday said “the pace of growth of Chinese investment in Mozambique has been very fast, with 100 Chinese companies operating in the country.

Such diverse sectors of collaboration between Mozambique and China include energy, agriculture, fishing, real estate, building materials, tourism, transport, telecommunications, infrastructure and trade.

The Chinese say their investment in Mozambique aims to help Mozambicans to be self-sufficient, both in industry and in agriculture, an example being that the country already has the first car brand in Africa.
