Elite I: Leaders Cotonsport slip to first away defeat at New Stars

Cotonsport of Garoua slipped to their first away defeat of the season on Wednesday afternoon after suffering a two-nil defeat at the hands of New Stars of Douala.

UMS of Douala raced to a two-nil lead in the first half against Cotonsport of Garoua who were without top scorer Marius Mouandjimaldi.

The team from Douala held on to the lead for the rest of the game to serve Cotonsport of Garoua their first defeat of the season though the team from Garoua.

Cotonsport of Garoua however stay top with 49 points, seven points clear of UMS Loum who could not take advantage to cut the deficit at the top as they were held to a goalless draw by Feutcheu FC.

Cotonsport of Garoua could put daylight between themselves and UMS Loum when both sides face off in Garoua on Sunday with a win probably wrapping up the title for Cotonsport of Garoua.

At the bottom of the table, Aigle of the Menoua leapfroged Yafoot after edging them one nil while Colombe remain in the drop zone with the two after a 1-1 draw with Yong Sport Academy of Bamenda.
