Ethiopia: Y-o-Y inflation for February rises to 7.0 percent

Ethiopia’s year-on-year inflation rose to 7.0 percent in February from 6.1 percent in January, the country’s Central Statistics Agency said in a statement on Tuesday.Food inflation increased to 7.8 percent from 5.0 percent in the previous month, according to the agency.

 

There was decline in food prices of cereals except rice during the month under review, the statement said.

However, vegetables (especially pepper green and cabbage), pulses, potatoes and coffee suggested an increase in their prices which contributed to the rise in the inflation rate during the current month.

According to the agency’s monthly statement, Non-food inflation dropped to 6.2 percent from 7.4 percent in January.
