The Ethiopian Commodity Exchange Authority (ECX) on Thursday announced it has started a new approach whereby coffee growers can directly export their products. The Authority on Thursday announced the launching of a new coffee trading system which it said will benefit coffee producing farmers and earn them better income.
The Authority in a statement said farmers who have over 2.5 hectares of coffee plantation and coffee processing machines, as well as capable of using technologies, are entitled to export their products.
According to the new trading system, coffee grower farmers and smallholders can directly export coffee beans or supply to exporters.
