Ethiopia’s PM asks Saudi King Salman to extend amnesty

Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Hailemariam Dessalegn has asked King Salman of Saudi Arabia to extend the 90-day amnesty that the Kingdom gave for foreign nationals to leave its territory.According to a statement issued by Ethiopia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the premier on Monday sent a letter requesting for the extension of the amnesty, as about 400,000 undocumented Ethiopians are still live in the Kingdom.

So far 42,000 of the total 110,000 illegal Ethiopian migrants who got exit visas had returned home.

The 90-day amnesty given by Saudi Arabia for foreign nationals living there without proper residency documents expires on Friday.
