France is building new embassy offices in the Ghanaian capital, Accra which its envoy says would be both more accessible and secure.The current French embassy is adjacent to Flag Staff House, the seat of government in Ghana.
The French Ambassador to Ghana, Francois Pujolas and Ghanaian President Nana Akufo Addo jointly laid a foundation stone on Friday for the construction of the new embassy building at Cantonment.
The area in a quiet and upscale part of Accra is reserved for diplomatic missions based in the Ghanaian capital.
According to the French Ambassador Pujola construction work on their new embassy would take 18 months to complete.
The French embassy is among 87 foreign missions based in Ghana, and one of 83 representations of France around Accra.
